Hi, this my first attempt at a movie trailer type of read and was looking for some feedback from some of you movie trailer types! I obviously do not have a movie trailer "voice" but if I do it first thing in the morning the voice is a bit deeper and more gravely! Gotta hold off on that coffee for just a little while... Thanks for your feedback!

Scott:
Pretty good first stab at it, I'd say.
Couple of things struck me. Firstly, the whole movie-trailer thing is about the voice kind'a jumping out. In your clip, the background muffles or sort of cushions the text. Increase the voice volume; a lot.
Secondly, each of your sentences sort of drifts to a small peak and then lilts out, like a frisbee. The pros punch certain words for drama and voice-pitch for added effect.
In other words, you need to be more lively and dramatic here; almost kitchy and over-done.
The voice is fine; don't give it a second thought.
Voice On!

Scott,

First off ...move to LA take a ton of voice over work shops & get an agent! Smile

Having danced on that floor, work the mic close & use a "semi-forced" whisper. The type of mic & processing is also critical. Keep in mind that there is only one Don LaFontaine & it's his "dramatic" style that you are trying to mimic. However, there are happy & comedic reads for trailers. Go on line & check out Beau Weaver, in my opinion, he is one of the best voices in our business (and one of the best radio announcers I've ever work with)....from Superman to a Smurf and spots to trailers!

Keep the tape rolling.

I'm new to this site and hardly a guru.

Enclosed is MY second attempt at a similar "movie-trailer" guy for all of your amusement.
