I'm confused as far as what to get for my studio. ISDN and Phone Patch or Cable Internet or both. Also how would I wire it into my console and ProTools?

Thanks for the help!

Andy

Cable internet is a necessity, no matter what, you need the upload speed to deliver your high-resolution files to your customers. For me DSL is even too slow.

ISDN is customer specific, that is, if you have a regular gig, like with a radio station, it may be necessary for you. But for ISDN to work, you need to establish and shutdown dedicated lines constantly. For studios, this is more of a hassle than it is worth for individual or occasional gigs, unless you are doing a lot of on location news reporter type jobs.

Phone patch is very useful. Many clients want to her you while you record. There are plenty of ways to do this on the cheap if you look around the other forums here, there has been lots of discussion about it.

I totally agree with Chuck, the ISDN can be a great tool, just be sure you really need it, it can add up on costs and most of the times the clients are ok with e mailing the files.

Regarding the phone patch, here’s a link that might help:
