Okay so I'm new to the whole arena of voice over and I am trying to gain a better understanding of how it works and what I should do. I have the Rode podcaster mic that is USB. Does that produce a good enough sound for clients? I also would love to know where to get all those cool sound effects that you used on that ad. I am using Audacity now and I am still trying to figure it out, but I can tell you that my submissions are strictly voice with no background music or effects. Any suggestions?

Go to e-Bay and do a search in the CD section for "Sound Effects". Very reasonable and they're all yours.

Mark. Just go on line and Google sound effects. There are lots of sites that will let you download sounds for free in a veriaty of file formats that you can burn to CD or just save in a folder.

If you can't find free sfx, in a pinch you can go to sounddogs.com and purchase them. They do have free samples, but they are low quality. I do warn you, they can be a little pricey. That's why I only use them in a pinch.

Expensive!?
Where else can you get 25 different takes of bacon sizzling or rutting sloths and buy the one you like for $2.00?
And then it's part of your library forever. Nah; I like sounddogs.
Now..if only a job came along for those darned sloths of mine....

Voice On!

Scott...Thank you. I have never been to that website. That will work great around here for the station. The station want's to keep all of their money so they don't give me any type of buget for production. When I need a SFX I usually have to buy it myself. This site fits my buget!
