Bret:
At your invite, I lent an ear to your demo. While I'm uncomfortable commenting on the vocals from other distant colonies, I felt - and bought -the enthusiasm you bring to the text.
But the darn thing's too long by twice, mate.
Especially in light of the fact that most of the clips are clones of each other, why drub it in so?
It almost sounds as if your demo is so stretched out of as much pride in the f/x as of the voice. All those jingles, for example, seem superfluous and unnnecessary on YOUr voice demo. And speaking of f/x, the background in the opening snippet (Is it rain? rustling tin foil?) is static-y and off-putting.
I would also use the deep, 'radio-guy' voice a little more to provide range and variety.
But maybe that's just me.
Meanwhile, glad to have you aboard, mate.
Voice On!

It is hard to pull good commercials from bad copy - I work in a small station and have only those to use as demos, I have only been recently voicing nationally for 2 other agencies Smile but the experience is great, and I will be asking them to send me the final mixdowns also!

Most Aussie radio stations hate the whole put on radio voice over style, so I have been working towards being more natural sounding. But alas that isn't the way it may be overseas. But I can see why you want a variety - have a listen to my latest demo then. Hopefully variety is better and length is defnitely shorter (the one posted before was my very first attempt at a demo).

Now those SFX in the first spot is of a shopping centre, because that was the instruction on the copy hahah!

Please feel free to add some more comments on the new demo (I have also got into the snippets quicker if you take note!).

Thanks Bret Smile
