Hi, people
I just received a wonderful job to do a audiobook narration for a rather short but still large project. Thanks to this website. It is a novella about 146 pages. I am very excited about it and my mic and recording equipment are up to par however, I don't have any editing equipment. I am thinking of dividing it up to 4 parts and splicing it together professionally or sending it in 4 parts so that writer can put it all together. But I am a little worried that it was be unmanageable in the post production side. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deliver this job??? (someone with experience in this area of voice work) |

Hi. Be sure that you know how your client wants the audio to be delivered. I have worked with clients that want each chapter to be in one file and other clients that want everything in one huge file. Then there was a client that wanted each section of each chapter in an individual file.
Check with your client first. If you do not have any editing software, that is probably not good since there is always some editing that needs to be done. Check out the free audacity program that is all around. It is pretty good. _________________ Larry Maizlish

Welcome Norma - and congrats on the job!
Larry's on the mark. Ask the client, and definitely get some software for editing. Audacity is good for free. SoundForge from Sony is the next step up at around $70, and Adobe Audition is used quite a bit too.
When you get a chance, please go to the Hello forum and introduce yourself...

| I'm curious-- what kind of recording software do you use that is "up to par," but that you can't edit with? |

Wow, hadn't thought of that... hope it's not a wax cylinder! |

I always wanted one of those Edison wax cylinder recorders. If you have one for sale, I'll give you $5 for it right now.....
Just imangine if you had to edit using one of those wax recorders. Melt it a bit here and there, I guess. _________________ Larry Maizlish

Hee hee! Funny guy...
Ya know, I've never seen one of them in person. It'd be a kick to record something on it...
Off to check e-bay,
Joe |
