Paul, if I was a p.d. at a radio station looking to hire a news guy I'd probably CONSIDER you, but even at that this demo isn't that good. The fidelity and the heavy breaths in-between sentences is off-setting. Most of the demo is nothing other than dry aircheck clips and I found myself quickly losing interest. Your best piece is at the very end where you do the Tracini's restaurant, and then the demo just abruptly ends shortly after that, like a mistake. By the way, the demo is too long, too. Or it just seems that way.
Honestly, I think you need to go back to the drawing board and start fresh on this one. And this is an honest critique from another radio guy who had to do a TON of rethinking to migrate from announcer into voiceover.
Get a variety of production copy; things that you can honestly do well; that fit your age, style and energy level. Produce some REAL spots, with music, sfx, the works. Pick the 5-7 best ones, take about :05-:10 of each, and craft a well-honed, professional demo that pulls me in, makes me want to hear more, and lets me know that you can do more than deliver a break before a stopset, or a weathercast.
You obviously have a nice voice, and I like the 'character' that comes clearly across in it (again, we really hear it in the restaurant clip). But unless I'm looking to fill an on-air spot at a station, I don't think this demo will get you the v/o work you'd want to find here.
All the best. |

Sir:
Wanted to hear your clip and (probably) just ramblingly repeat what Scott said, but for some reason I can't find it to download...problem my side, or what?

Hi Paul!
You've got a nice sound, but I agree with Scott to go in there, and revamp the demo. You won't be sorry.
Best to you.
