Hi Everybody! This is a great place to talk voiceover....

Ok, I have a coach, and she lets me log on to her voice123 site to listen to her answered auditions any time I want....she is so sweet to do that. I ALWAYS listen only AFTER I have done that particular audition, otherwise the temptation to have her delivery rub off on me and me copy her is too great.....But how helpful it is to hear other people's interpretation!

HERE'S a suggestion: What if AFTER having submitted our auditions, we were to be able to log on to a place where we could hear all the other auditions submitted for a particular job? That would be such a great help for us ongoing learners!! What do you think?

Hello Caroline,

That is a really good idea; we really appreciate you bringing it up to our attention.

We’ll for a fact bring this up to Voice123´s development department, maybe it can be an option for future developments.

Thank you and welcome to The voice over Savvy Forum.

I agree - that's a wonderful suggestion.

Maybe we could get a link in the "client chose another talent" e-mail to listen to other auditions and hear the one that was picked.

Would certainly help me to "hone-in" on the clients needs for future auditions.

Thanks again,
Joe

Even better, if possible, would be to see which audition landed the job! There might be client or talent privacy issues which prevent this, of course, but I find myself frequently wondering "Okay, if my audition didn't get the gig, which one did?"

I too would like to know who gets the job. I know that some of the jobs go to no one. I replied to a gig that was just a V.O. guy fishing for information from the rest of us. I know this because he contacted me about my demo and admitted to it.

I wonder how many times we've all responded to a dead lead like that?

I feel that this is the WRONG use of V123. Don't waste my time with phony leads, I've got enough REAL clients to deal with from my regular clients.

Thank you all for the feedback, Voice 123´s development department is informed of your comments. It is quite an interesting idea and for a fact it will be taken on to consideration for future developments.

Voice123 really appreciates any new ideas coming from you.

I too would like to know when someone gets the job.
I don't even need to know their name...just that someone got it...and Voice123 let us know.

Otherwise...cool site.
Have a great day Very Happy

Caroline:
You're fortunate to have a hands-on contact/coach/mentor like that.
I, too, would love to be able hear my colleagues' submissions to projects. It would certainly be informative and instructive. And - probably - at times both discouraging and uplifting. It would also be nice to know that a fellow V123'er filled the job. For example, I noticed an interesting V123 posting of last week (There is a time to dance; a time to weep, a time to collect, a time to give away, etc, etc) popping up on another site yesterday, with the budget there having dropped considerably: to $100. I find it amazing that none of the 120 or so answers at V123 suited the client.
But still, we need to remain realistic. For example, I don't think we need to know who got the job. That can only lead to jealousy, paranoia, and in-fighting. Nor do I think that respondents should be obliged to have us all listen in. It should be optional.
I, for one, would always permit it; but others may have reasons for seeking to work more anonymously.
If we ham-string V123 and its clients too much; the customers will go elsewhere. And - much as we enjoy being here - we would follow the leads, wouldn't we?
Remember that this is very much a free-market bazaar. The nature of the beast is that it has to remain that way.
I agree with you. But let's keep it real.
Will the postee let us listen to his aud? Then let's. Did a V123'er get the gig? That's great.
More is too much.

I agree with Robert. Personally it doesn't matter to me who got it. I do the audition and move on. If I get the gig that's great, if not best of luck to whoever did.

That would take up a lot of server space after about a year, not to mention bandwidth, uless it was setup some how through a remote server at the voice123 office.

Not a bad idea, but isn't that what folks are sort of doing in the voiceover idoll seven doors down?

Salam!....Shoma mobarak bashad! Farsi e man bad ast...It's all I know

I'd say do it... show it to us. Just to know what the client is looking for.

It might be a good idea that v123 would ask for very specific specs from the seeker or at least some, so we know what kind of read or intention they're looking for. 90% of the time we have to guess or assume. May be that will help, or may be we'll definetely have to listen to the winner to decode the client specs. It's a very good idea Caroline, I hope v123 will do it, and welcome. Gracias.

What Robert & Russ said. If I get the job, they'll tell me. If I didn't - I gave it my best shot - why do I care?
