I've posted my demos here before but am looking for more compliments.
KIDDING.
Seriously, any input or suggestions would be welcome. I'm looking at re-doing some demos, but would like some input before I do.

Really good performance, Barry! My only criticisms pretty much center on your production - some of your spots are really poppy on the "P's" (character reel I think). Also, overall your demos were pretty loud - to the point of a little clipping at points, I think.
You are definitely "there" with your voice and performance. Just a little touch-up on the demo quality (at least your online demo) and you're in great shape. |

Hey Barry!
I really like your voice. What I love about your demo is that energy that you possess. It makes your reads come across so natural. Best to you.

Hi Barry,
You have a great voice and can interpret a wide range of copy. I don't think there's a lot you need to change on the commercial demo, if anything. I agree with Chip that there were a lot of noisy hard consanants on the character and production demos. Plus the volume across the mix was a little uneven. After those minor blemishes are cleaned up you're golden. |

Barry:
I came, I heard, you conquered.
Can add nothing to our esteemed voice brethren above. I agree. You good.
I might leave out the Johnson clip at the end. It runs the demo a tad long-ish and adds nothing that you hadn't already nailed previously.
Super job.

Many thanks to all for the input.
I guess I do tend to push things a bit in the volume; it's a holdover I have from analog days where you try to max out the volume in an attempt to improve the signal to noise ratio. I'll work on toning 'em down.
Thanks everyone! |

Barry,
I love your demo, your voice, your style and your interpretations. I think you have one of the best demos out there, truly. You have good range, GREAT delivery, wonderful emotiveness.... great stuff. Not to mention your voice quality is unique in a very good way. I didn't even really pick up on any popping Ps, but then I'm half deaf. The ONLY thing that I caught was that you really rushed thru the line "They have kennel service there". Very rushed and somewhat slurred. Other than that I wish it was MY demo!
Super, super job! |
