Voicing Gang:
While I'm all in favour of any feedback that permits us to know what the posters are up to, I believe that their priorities and pressures are such that it may be impossible to expect them to get back to us little voicers with comments and results and such.
Don't forget that most of them answer to others, and are too busy taking credit themselves for a good product, leaving little time to ladle out secondary kudoes,
We, however, can thank those posters who have the class to get back to us and say things like, "You were right up there, and while we opted for someone else, we'd like to keep your name on file for future projects."
This has happened to me some dozen times, and while it doesn't do much for the bank account, it does warm the cockles of one's heart and sometimes brings work down the road.
Conversely, a log may be kept of posters who receive 150-plus auditions and then send that joyous, magic private lead which turns out to be a call-back voice-off among 1 dozen finalists.
In the real and unionized world, artists are paid for that happy call-back audition. Here we jump through hoops when - let's face it - the potential client has had ample material to choose from.
Free call-back auditions for $300 jobs are demeaning.
I recommend a V123 site wherein the customers are held to appraisal.
After all, we are... every day.

Hello Robert.

We really appreciate you bringing this up; for a fact is one of those ¨simple¨ things we hope clients will do. A thank you message or a simple note can make us feel that our time was not completely lost if we are not the chosen ones for the gig. We are aware that Voice123 is doing quite a few upgrades soon and some are related to the way clients can provide feedback and communicate with talents.

Hopefully these will reflect on a greater communications and feedback tools for the talent.

Anyway, we do believe you have a point and will forward your message to Voice123´s development team; maybe more can be done in future developments to help this.

Thank you.

While I'm not new to Voice123 I *am* new to the forums. Is there a single place where these planned upgrades are described?

Thanks in advance...

Unfortunately most of the information has not been released yet, but it will very soon.

We’ll beg you to be a patient.

I'm glad someone started this thread...

First of all, I agree with Robert. If you're in this business for a pat on the back and an attaboy, you're in the wrong business.

I agree further that most of the searchers are someone's grunts. Having been in radio for 35+ years, including copywriting and production, I am painfully aware of the lack of talent and creativity these "agencies" have. Get it done fast and cheap sems to be their credo. The ones that kill me are the "need a James Earl Jones voice" or "a voice like the movie trailers". What a hoot! And they want these sensational performances for $25! You can pretty well tell who the cheapos are: check their spelling and syntax. We ought to be handing out crayons for these gavones to write with.

I also have a big problem with clients who won't disclose their names. If you're in business, be in business. Let us know who you are. Don't want to be bothered with e-mails and phone calls? Tough toenails!

Regarding the voiceoffs, it would be nice if, in the screening process, Voice123 could ascertain if the client plans to do this, and then flag the lead accordingly.

It is nice to at least get a rejection letter every once in a while! Of all the auditions I've made and sent out, the only ones who even replied at all are foreign clients!

One other thing I learned from some GOOD radio salespeople: set your rate and stick to it. Don't be a whore, or you'll get a whore's reputation. I remember being on the air one morning, chatting with my newsguy about a benefit we were doing with another radio station...and that's what I called them: the other radio station. When he asked me why I didn't say who it was, I answered that if they want their call letters on our station, they could pay for it like anyone else.

When the general manager came in that morning, he came into the control room and kissed me!

Thanks for the opportunity to vent.

A pat on the back does not put food on the table, neither does submitting a demo and hearing nothing kopf gegen wand ....but, knowing that someone, anyone, got the job would give me closure Laughing (and still no food. haha) I agree with Stan; there is nothing wrong with a rejection letter. At least you know someone heard your demo. Is there a way, a unique web page, whereby all the job postings could be listed and then "checked off" when they are filled. This way all talent could review the site, listed by ID Number, and know if the job was filled or not. Maybe even give the name of the talent.... so we could be jealous niedermayr anbeten or give them a "pat on the back"
Just my thoughts.
Thank you for letting me vent.
Have a great day
