Hi,

I'm pretty new to the whole voice over thing. I've done some before, but now I'd like to take it more seriously. My mixed showreel is the link below. Any advise, tips, constructive critisism...etc all welcome.

I'm hard to offend so go for it!

Hey Hayley,

You have a very unique sound. Couple of suggestions for you. On your regular demo on the 123 site I'd think about re-doing it. Sounds very read to me. I'm assuming you wrote the copy. Try to make it sound more conversational. I'm noticing also you over enunciate a lot of words. I'm not saying that you should skip that all together, but I think if you work on those two things you will be smokin! Good luck!

Thanks for your advise! When you say unique, is that in a good way or bad way? Very Happy

Also, I agree about the demo, it was something I made quickly before I had any "real" demos to put online. I think I'll remove it, or like you said, re-do.

Thanks again,

Hayley

Hey Hayley!

In this business unique is a plus. It makes you stand out from the rest of the pack. Go get em!

Hayley:
Alright; you asked for it....
Bluntly, I'd scrap it and tackle anew. You sound almost pained (nervous? stressed?), but certainly forced. It worked pretty well for the gun and 2 cigs spot - fit there nicely - and the XtaticFM was certainly a very singular interpretation. Those are the off-beat spots that fit you fairly nicely. But, for example, even in the FM snippet, you should have coaxed more out of the adjectives. The word "Great", you'll agree, sounded anything but.
So lighten up, and get a tad further from the mic. You sounded as if you were going to devour it.
With a nice, relaxed pace - and the right texts - yhou will certainly corner the market on a different sound.
Go get 'em,
Robert Jadah

OK, thanks. I'll keep it in mind, wish this forum was made aware to me before I spent the $200 on upgrading! I wonder if they do refunds... Crying or Very sad

Hayley:
Sorry; i did not mean to drive you to the pawn shop.
Only you said to let you have it...and I did.
You're going to be fine....I didn't mean to be too harsh...
