Hello, everyone! I posted a "terse" (hehe) intro in the "hola" column, and after reading some of the posts, familiarizing myself with the forums and enjoying the friendly atmosphere around here, I think I'm ready to make a proper introduction.
My name is Laura and I live in south-central Wisconsin, a beautiful area which I dearly love. Much of my adult life has been spent waiting tables, a fairly lucrative, but physically punishing career. For the past 8 years I have been a librarian at an elementary school. When I would read to the kids, it seemed I would often get comments from teachers and other adults like, "I loooove to listen to you read." It's what gave me the idea to come here. I have also been a cantor in my church for 15 years or so, and have sung funerals and weddings professionally. Have done no professional recording as of yet, but hopefully with a little effort and some luck that will change soon.
My equipment is basic--a usb mic and laptop pc with a fast internet connection. I have used WavePad Master's Edition to record a few things so far. Does anyone else use this program?
Anyway, it's nice to be here (it says I've been a member since '04, but really just started). I hope to post a pic soon. Is it a bad idea to put in a shot that's not professionally taken? thanks! And I am looking forward to hearing from the gang!

Welcome!

Avatars aren't that big, so toss in anything you got! When you get the pro shot, change it out. When you're reading through the forum you see anything.

I personally believe "My Brand" is everything, so you see the same picture here that I use on my cards and website. It IS my brand.

You'll see very professional Avatars and people with their dog, grandkids and Morgan Freeman is even used, even though I'm not sure why.

Like Colin said; Jump IN!

TOO FUNNY that you know all those little (and big) wisconsin traditions and groovy foodstuffs. I love it. Cool When my BF moved here from New Hampshire he wanted to go out for Fish Fry on a Saturday night. See? Most people wouldn't know how silly that is. Saturday is PRIME RIB night. Laughing Thanks for the warm welcomes. It's nice to be here. I have to go post my picture now. Oh! Grant, I was going to mention that that fellow looked a LOT like Morgan Freeman. haha
