Scott, yeah...I'm in Oklahoma.

As for Elk City...the home of the brown and white and Schwarz's Drug Store?

Yeah, I might have heard of it. Razz First girl I ever fell in love with was from Elk. Smile

I know I need to get coastal or at the very least closer to a bigger market. How are the opportunities in Hot-lanta?

hi folks,

heres a take on a lead today...

not going to submit demos to most leads for awhile..
best to make some progress on getting beyond this 'announcer' thingy, and get a better mic ....

the thoughtful and helpful comments on previous demos, and reading darn near every entry in The Forums has kinda put me in fall back, re-group, re-form etc etc mode...

there a 12 step program for recovering announcers?
you know, make a list of people who dont like my announcer style and became willing to have god remove them for me... something like that...

again, sorry for messin up the thread....

Hi John,

It is clear your voice is very calm, authoritative and one that captures the listener. To me, I would like you to be a little more conversational in that piece. I believe you can do that really well if you made it more conversational. I think it would make it flow much much better in that style.

Good Job though Buddy

Definitely a slow day, and the only two custom demos that I saw were for the guys too - so there were hundreds of submissions. I almost passed on both but then I thought, there is always the DOTD. And I'd love to hear what you fellas did on these two too. Rolling Eyes

In the Mind Makeover, I saw the long script and just chose from the middle. After producing the clip, I clicked "Reply" and then saw what they chose for the script. Ah well, it was too late really. There were already over 100 replies.

In both demos, I was trying to sound conversational and didn't use headphones. Let me know how it worked. I have my own stern opinion but I don't want to influence anyone by suggestion. (Okay, they are pretty awful! Ha ha ha!)

I really wanted to post my first Demo of the Day but alas my most beautiful voice is not with me. I was struck down but not out from a recent cold. So hopefully my beautiful voice will return real soon and I will finally be able to participate in this wonderful duel amongst friends.

Colin, Phyllis,

Seeing that it really seems to be dead around here tonight I thought I would chime in on your 2 recent demos. For what it's worth coming from me, I thought both of your voices piercing my ear drums was quite pleasing.

Now get out there a make some money with all that.

I just submitted this for that hotel IVR lead. (I ignored their ridiculously low budget and quoted my usual .35 a word.)

Oops-- I forgot I submitted on that security one, also!

Wow, Phyllis!

Your new equipment really brings out your voice beautifully!

10 von 10

By the way, I meant to re-do the Des Moines Demo. You know, kind of mean but hip.....but a faster slow. igitt

I had some equipment changes (unplanned) and a couple of projects to complete and just haven't done anything at all.

Did you get the gig?

Phyllis, I'll have to disagree with Kathleen a bit on the sound of your demos. I'm listening thru headphones and I'm hearing a LOT of background hiss. And there's not a big 'presence' like I hear on Colin's demos. Now your READS are typically lovely! But I'd work on the sound quality some more. What bit rate are you saving the finished product out at?

Here's one of the very few I did today... the Mind Makeover thing.

Oh, and please go visit the 'General Chit Chat' thread and hear the finished product I did for a V123 client on my "Landed another one thread". I think you'll like it.

I was kind of disappointed with the mind makeover piece. I mean the copy would have been so much more fun like:

George you are our next Mind Makeover today. Now George, you know you are so dated. You use words like cool and you can't even spell emoticon. Today we will bring your mind into 2006 from 1975.

Anyway, I was AFM for a few days. Here is one that just came in.

Hope everybody had a good weekend.

George... welcome back! I was wondering what had become of you.

You continue to improve, and spots like this are right in your ballpark. I'm going to offer a bit of coaching here on this one, though:

- The opening: "Tackle the Water!" .... give it a ton more energy. That doesn't mean shouting it, but make me WANT to jump into the water. Put some real "ooooomph!" in it
- First sentence, your energy started fading out on the "from Barney's..." End that sentence UP TEMPO! Add exclamation points (several) to the "from Barneys!!!!!"
- Really hit the "No money down!!!" and "As little as $69 a month!". These are the big selling points here. Be excited when you tell me about them so the listener will get excited. You're MORE excited about the fact that Barney's buys pre-owned craft than you are about the fact that I can get into one for no money down. I'm betting Barney's would rather SELL me a boat than buy my old one.
- Ironically, the thing you're MOST excited about in this read is being open 7 days a week (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). I don't see that as being the peak energy point in this spot. It sounds like artificial excitement to me.
- Got a LOT of that twang happenin' in "HAH-way 43" but that might be okay in a spot like this.

Again, overall, not a bad read and you really ARE getting better. But while you're adding emphasis to spots like this, make sure the emphasis makes sense.

Make sense?

Smile

Makes great sense. I heard that bang on 7 days....I just didn't realize I should change it. Your comments really help a lot.
