Which sound recording software do you recommend for a beginner? I am new to this and need to download some software to get started responding to the ads.

What do you recommend? I am running windows XP.

Well, Audacity is available for download - and it's free.
That may be the fastest solution for you to submit auditions.
You'll also need to get a free copy of LAME to convert to mp3.

Pay options include Adobe Audition, Sony SoundForge/Acid, and a number of others. Which one depends on the options you want, and your comfort level with both sound and computer tech.

Can you give us a bit more insight on what you're looking for?

Thanks,

Go with Audacity (free), Protools or Adobe Audition, those are the best ones out there.

As am I, Amy, although I've been using the pre-Adobe version, Cool Edit Pro 2.0, for about 5 years now. I've recorded and mastered 3 cds on it so far, as well, and it's pretty much the standard now in most radio stations. But for someone who might not ever have dabbled in digital audio editing before, I would imagine it could initially be a bit overwhelming.

Not all but the most common ones.
I used to help with a lot of troubleshooting when I did customer service, so.....had to try them.

Right now I have installed Protools, AA, Audacity and Live lite, but every time something new comes out or I discover recording software, well, I try it, just for general info.
Anyway, every time I need to record or edit something AA is my favorite.

AA seems pretty popular, indeed.

Hey, Freddie - just a question off topic -

Do you, or anyone else working at Voice123 answer any of the leads?

I'll agree with Chuck on this one. Sound Forge Audio Studio 8 is a light version of the full Sound Forge. It comes in at $69.95 and is downloadable (or you can get the box).
