So diamond jewler wants two parts at 60 sec for 100 bucks.
I have been submitting these, but I just deleted that one.
Question, am I crazy or just starting to regain my sanity? _________________ 865-686-8925

This is not worth your time George.
You are certainly regaining your sanity. |

Just imagine if you had stumbled into the gig, George.
There'd be a momentary euphoria for bagging one, and then you'd put in hours and hours of work to get it just the way the client wants it.
And trust me, the lowballers are invariably the high-whiners.
The client would send off his $100, which works out to about one cent an hour for the time you've already put in on honing your craft.
Never mind the equipment.
Then the ads would run for weeks on end. He'd reap huge advertising benefits. The 100 bucks is long gone. So is the euphoria.
Next year, he'd run the ad again. You'd be in conflict if you did any other jewellers.
No...I'd say you might be losing $100; but you're certainly gaining sanity.

ya know, thats appearing to be so true, especially in one of the forums conversations about a Seeker looking for no/low cost character acting voices and tossing quite a hissy about it..
fine, i'm just a neophyte in the biz, and hunger for even the low paying gigs just to get out there, but, damn, if the low ballers are going to be the high-whiners, it would be best to hone my skills, take my chances w/ better paying gigs offered by, hopefully, less moaner clients as my talents improve...
thanks for the attitude adjustment, Robert....

Well, so far only 18 talents applied to the lead....no shock there. The script didn't make much sense at all, either.
I also deleted it, almost immediately. |

Ditto here as well. I read the ad and thought what a rip off!
My time is worth more than that!
Good call george!
Heather
PS
I design jewelry....not into diamonds, but I have a good idea of what the mark up is. The client could afford more!! That's my humble opinion. _________________ Heather

Putting value on what we do is what it's all about. It's up to us to hold the line. I've always been amazed that out of a $10,000 ad campaign, some (not all) clients will beef over paying a few hundred dollars for talent.
Part of the problem is that it seems nearly everybody thinks they can do what we do. You know, "Man! How hard can THAT be?" Yep, it looks easy until they actually try it. Or, they sit through a pro session and finally learn that we only make it LOOK (sound) easy.
FYI - I delete 99% of the leads sent from this site. They're just not worth the time and hassle. It's often the quality of writing in the script that give them away as a con or a hack job. The quality clients and leads really jump out at you since there are so many crappy ones.
I laugh out loud at the leads that say "We're looking for the sound of (INSERT MOVIE STAR'S NAME HERE)" Budget - $50 |
