Let's hear from former (or current) users of the Orban Audicy (or god forbid, The DSE7000.) Anyone? _________________ www.ColinCampbellVoice.com

| Colin - I was there when they rolled the DSE7000 into 100.1 "The Point" in Chicago. It was (I think) the 3rd operational in the states, with the other two in Boston. I remember how baffled I felt - looking at this ... screen, when I thought I should have been looking down at a reel. When I told friends in radio about it - they just could not grasp it. Totally a foreign concept. I went from that to DigiDesign Session 8 > something else I don't remember > 1st Edition of SAW > SAW+ (and various upgrades) > Audition |

Todd... there is quite a cult following for the Audicy. I too started on a DSE7000 very early in its life. We still have six operational Audicy's here at the radio ranch alongside Audition. There is a Google group dedicated to DSE/Audicy preservation. They swap parts and still swear its the best. It's run by a former Orban Audicy tech support and product manager and frequented by some of it's developers and many of its fans who say "you'll have to pry my cold dead hands off my Audicy." _________________ www.ColinCampbellVoice.com

I think it's interesting to note: on the early DAWs - you couldn't see the wave file - just blocks of color. When the 1st upgrade came out with that option I was amazed. That was also the same upgrade, I think, that allowed for real-time editing ... if you processor was fast enough.
btw - the original price tag on the AKG DSE 7000 ... $40,000! |

They closed out their production run as Audicy FX at $18,000 in 2005. Yes, you still used your ears more in those days and since I don't see well, I liked it. _________________ www.ColinCampbellVoice.com
