Hi. I'm fairly new to the world of voiceovers, but have been in the radio biz for about 10 years. I'm a free member at voice123, and a paid member at TOS. Would any of you ol' pros be interested in taking a listen to my demo, please? I've been told I've got a great voice, but can't seem to get my foot in the door....any suggestions would be appreciated. |

Jamee-
You have an excellent sound. You need to really pump your reads up with emotion. A lot of them really run flat right at the end when they should be going through the roof.
Good luck! _________________ 865-686-8925

There's not much wrong with the demo, Jamee, though I agree with George that it could use a bit more OOMPH or AWWWW in places. In other words, it's all fairly similar in tone. Good; but similar. Try to throw in a charity appeal or other emotive clip.
And please discard the Josh and Friends bit, since even real good character voices get few job opportunities. And those, Jamee, aren't.
But you've a solid voice, and obvious experience and production ability. So what we're left with is the misconception (which is fuelled in part by many of our mentors) that a good Demo is like a key to the kingdom.
Hell's Bells (oops..I mean Heck's Pecs!)..it ain't even a bus pass.
When we audition, we're far better off with a Custom audition. Or even a short Generic which falls within the client's needs.
Who's going to want to listen to a 70-second general demo when they're looking for an on-hold message?
So rid yourself of the Demo hang-up. Fine-tune it, sure, but then get out there and audition the brand name right off your mic.
That'll work.
Eventually.
