(Didn´t know where to add this question)
Those who have been long working as an over voice tanlent, from home and specially those long time in this web, do you get jobs where your voices are supposed to match a caracter talking (animation movies, commercials translated to other languages, etc)?
Is it possible to do so with the equipment you have?

Laura,

Sure, it's possible... just takes a bit longer to do.
Setup something to play the media, press "record" for your mic, and you're off and running. Easier if you can loop sections of the video.
Also have to figure it into whatever price range you offer to the client, since it takes more time.

I just did a less demanding one, where they had an existing training video. I didn't have to match mouths, but did have to match the timing of the actions taking place (ie. "to operate the escape hatch, pull the red lever...")

There's also "voice matching" where they want you to sound like someone in particular (in case that's what you're talking about).

Cheers,

Hi Laura. All of the Overdubbing (A.D.R. - or Automated Dialogue Replacement) I have done has been in the client's billion dollar studio. (It is a GOTHIC P.I.A., by the way. MUCH easier if you do the voice 1st - THEN the animation. Easier for us, anyway. I don't know personally - but I hear Pro-Tools has an ADR plug in.

thank you so much for your answers. The truth is that that´s the only kind of trainning I have followed, I guess I´m missing the "interpretation" part, because we work harder on the tecnique to match our voices to the actors´s months. Spain is one of those crazy-lazy countries where people is used to watch movies where the voices have been replaced. I personally prefer the original versions, but dubbing is a huge maket there and that´s good for those who want to become a over voice talent.
