Ok, here is mine....
I spent three hours doing this and Sid will kick my butt with something he made in ten minutes. But now that I know how to do it, I can do the next one in 2 hours 55 minutes....

Wow George... you are stepping up. Voice is a little "muddy." Looks like you tried some processing that didn't go so well.

Let's see, let me throw out some multiple replies in one post here:
TOM: Nice touch there, the throat clearing and "Oh Gawwwd..." LOL! Also, I liked the touch of processing you added.
COLIN: If you can do it in one take typically, you're more of a god than one of radio's true voice gods, Jon Rivers. Jon is one of the HUGE voices in Christian radio, out of Texas, who used to work for KLTY in Dallas, and creator of "20: The Countdown Magazine". Jon used to do imaging for our station and would send us spots and liners several times a week (via FedEx on DAT!!! ..... Jon was a bit slow on adapting to changing technology), and without fail he'd just send us his raw takes with many, many, MANY wind-ups, back-ups, restarts, and pickups. I remember, though, in the days before digital, we would almost HAVE to do it in one solid take to cut down on the physical editing of tape. That's back when "good enough" was good enough.
GEORGE: Nice touch adding the music, but buddy, if that took you 3 hours, you'd better apply for food stamps now, because even if you get the job your net take will come out to about $3.19/hour. Also, even though you were going for the redneck cliche', man oh man do I HATE hearing the word vehicle pronounced "VEEEEE-HICK-ul". I know we hear it all the time in commercials, but you NEVER hear it in real life. For that matter, how many of us even use the word 'vehicle' in conversation? Don't we typically say 'car' or 'truck'? I know it's yet another throwback of auto dealers refusal to move into the twentieth century with their advertising, but still.....

| Thanks Scott. The throat clearing is standard right before I start the actual read. The OMG in their was real too....you couldn't nreally tell in the recording but I could hear it loud and clear...right then my wife upstairs flushed the toilet and the water pipes started roaring.....that's when I had to stop and out of frustration of the timing, uttered that phrase. hahahahaha. I was trying something new with that touch of processing...never did that particular thing before. That was actually Ozone 3 with the "default" preset. I kinda liked it myself better than the usual compression I do. One thing I noticed because of this little exercise was....when I listened to my own raw file, I didn't like the way the individual segments on their own sounded....after editing and all, those same segments that I didn't like individually, didn't sound the same when heard in the finished spot. Overall, it sounds so much different than when it's just the individual segments. This was fun to do...thanks for starting it, and I don't mind whatsoever that I can't live up to all these other people that can nail it in one or 2 takes. I wish I could do that, but I can't and it really doesn't bother me that other people also now know that I can't. hahahahaha

Scott, Don't know where you're from but here in Ohio, regular folk absolutely do say "vee-HICK-ul." Of course they say a lot of HICK things here on Ohio.

| J.S. hit the Nail on the Head for sure. For me there isn't "take 1....2....3". I deliver each line on a separate track back & forth. Then go back and re-do any line I dislike. One final take. If there's a line they don't like I go back and punch in that particular one and send it back. I can't remember the last time I read an entire script all the way thru.....except maybe on a few auditions.

Ok-- here's a quick little somethin' for a paid gig. The raw file and what I sent to the client (who was happy-- whew! And paid me immediately via PayPal--double whew!) It's not high art, but it's a good example of what my raw process looks like.

| Amy....I LOVED that raw file. Of course the finished file was great as well....but I loved hearing your raw take...it was pretty much like Scott's and my raw file.....what's up with all the throat clearing tho?....hahahaha....I was listening and since the only picture of you I've seen is your avatar, I'm listening to your raw session with that picture in my mind and then hearing you clearing your throat a lit cigarette was added to the vision....dangling from your lips while you speak and a couple packs of cigarettes sitting next to you.....hahahahaha I'm teasing....I didn't really think that. Good job on some of those tongue twister word combos you had to work through.
