| The Sampson is in my collection and was my first mic....before I had any gear other than my computer. I got it on recommendation from a pro that had tested it and said that it was a very decent mic. I used that mic exclusively until I could afford a regular mic and audio interface and preamp. It has a real good sound....very neutral. very little color, so any color you want can be achieved through software. I use it when traveling with my laptop for auditioning. If I was on the road and needed to actually submit real work and not an audition I would still do it. It's a good mic and relatively cheap, and you don't need any external gear. |
