Now I have you attention, I am looking for a male to read this script.
This is just a practice piece, and I recorded the female parts, but wanted to see if I actually understood and portrayed what the client wanted.
So, if anyone has the time to record and edit their parts into this demo, I would be real appreciative.
Lynne
voice over for harbor tour company's DVD. Looking for female British talent. Project is non-broadcast. Will be a supplement to customers who purchase photos from tour. Looking for a light and witty interaction between the couple who are describing their trip to San Diego and all the things to see and do. Would prefer to hire local to record in studio. I want that chemistry and interaction as much as possible.
Please read female part only.
WOMAN
YES YES, OH LOOK! HOW BEAUTIFUL. THE SAN DIEGO SKYLINE.
MAN
IT'S QUITE LOVELY. LOT'S OF LOVELY BUILDINGS.
WOMAN
INDEED. NOW THAT'S AN OLD SHIP, SORRY, VESSEL.
MAN
SHIP OR VESSEL, Its STILL PROPER MARITIME LANGUAGE. THAT'S THE STAR OF INDIA. QUITE OLD INDEED IT WAS BUILT IN 1863 AND IS STILL SEAWORTHY. ONE OF THE OLDEST IN THE WATER
WOMAN
AREN'T YOU KNOWLEDGEABLE?
MAN
I READ THE BROCHURE.
WOMAN
MAYBE WE COULD TAKE A RIDE NEXT TIME?
MAN
MAYBE. OH MY NOW THAT'S A BIG SHIP!
WOMAN
I THINK I'VE HAD A CHANGE OF MIND...
MAN
WHAT A SURPRISE.
WOMAN
I THINK I WANT TO TAKE A RIDE ON ONE OF THOSE!
MAN:
YOU COULD GET LOST ON THAT BLOKE.
WOMAN
WOULDN'T BE SUCH A BAD IDEA.
MAN:
WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE NOW?
WOMAN:
THAT?S THE SAN DIEGO HARBOR EXCURSION FERRY LANDING AT BROADWAY STREET.
MAN:
THERE ARE TWO?
WOMAN:
WELL YES! YOU CAN'T RIGHTLY HAVE A FERRY IF IT DOESN'T HAVE A PLACE TOO FERRY TO. DOESN'T QUITE FIT THE DEFINITION.
MAN:
I SUPPOSE THAT'S A VALID
POINT. (EXCITED) BLIMEY! NOW THAT'S ONE YOU DON'T SEE EVERYDAY

Lynne:
I'll leave somebody else to put a good Brit take on the man's voice; I'd sound like Inspector Clouseau on Valium.
Just a quick thought on your side, though: to me, you do not sound conversational enough. It's a trifle slow and deliberate.
Try to imagine you're standing there with a loved one and pointing things out. The lines are not long; you should be able to recite each from memory and eliminate reading them.
Your voice and accents are lovely.
Voice On!

| Thanks Robert, the pointers are helpful, should I have a taker on this piece, I will re-edit my part with your suggestions on the read. I have only attempted one other conversational script, so all input is very helpful.

Lynne....Here you go. It's hilarious, because I just did my part without listening to your part....just like this will be when the producer puts it together with whoever has the male part. Pretty damn funny, but interesting.

Tom, Lynne:
We have voice equivalent of Rogers and Astaire!
That actually worked quite well. Kudoes.
If both of you bring the pace up about 12.5%, methinks you're chatting successfully away.
Right now, you sound a bit like two lobotomy out-patients.
But just a bit.
(I hope that's not offensive)
Stereo On!

OMG, I couldn't stop laughing at your comment Robert.
Tom, many thanks, I can really see where I need to work on the conversation, you did so well.
I will play with this some more over the next few days, and repost what I come up with. This was so helpful.
Todd, you are something else!! Do you have some kind of Index for everything ever posted on the web.

Todd:
Just great!
But aren't the family videos of your parole hearing private?
(I hope that's not offensive, and apologize immediately if it any way reflects on your character or beliefs.)

Tom:
I really, really liked it.
Another 6.75% and - by Jove - I think you'll have it.
Nice, friendly, articulate...well done.
And - you know - the second half is really quite funny if you think dirty and imagine that he's pulling more than binoculars out of his pants and...
You two work well together. Nice juxtaposition of the voices and accents.
Hard to believe you're so far apart.
