|
|
Most of the forum regulars know by now I'm also a musician with a cd on the market. My next cd of ambient/trance music will be available this spring (I hope! If I can find the time to finish the darned thing). Sometimes the names of the pieces I'm working on come to me in a flash. Others, like the song you'll find here, are enigmatic to me when I have to name them. I can NOT think of a suitable name for this composition.
If you're interested, submit any ideas you have for a name, and whichever one I like best I'll choose. Whoever submits it will get a free copy of the cd when it comes out.
Ya up for it? |

Thanks so much, Nikki. You can preview all of my original music at my site: http://www.soloeclypse.com
I recently posted a link to a song I composed this month that was inspired by the Titanic Artifacts exhibit, called... duh..... "Artifacts", which I suspect you'd like a lot too. |

| Scott if I were you I'd call this song Legend. I say that because it reminds me of the actual movie "legend". I can just picture some mystical creature explaining something to the hero of a magical movie. Diving into the past of some long forgotten "legend". Oh and did I say Legend? haha too many L words. That's my take on it, nice work! |

Thanks, Simon (and Randall) for the suggestions so far. Simon, you're right in that it was my take at a sort of soundtrack-sounding piece; such as something you might hear in Pirates of the Caribbean or some other 'big' film. Randall, I like the idea behind your name, but right now I have two other 'cold' titled songs that will be on the cd ('Iceberg' and 'Penguin Polka') and may not want to have the whole cd become an arctic sort of thing.
Keep 'em coming folks!
And thanks for the kind words. |

| When I heard it, I envisioned looking off of my deck out over the valley just before dawn and watching the sun slowly rise from between the snow covered mountains. I therefore think it should be called something like "Approaching Dawn" or "Dawn's Approach" or "Dawn of a New Day". Nice work Scott. Very nice. |

Scott, I'm having trouble finding Artifact. Please feel free to email it to me or send me a link. I'd love to hear it.
Your untitled piece reminded me too of a film (actually the Lord of the Rings trilogy), but only because LOTR used some ambient and New Age music, not because it matches anything I heard before. So I definitely had the sense of reaching the end of a long, hard journey. But "Journey's End" is the title of other ambient music. How about "Pilgrimage"? |

Nah, I think they used that title for a CSI episode, with ambient trance music in the soundtrack.
BTW, can you give me your wife's phone number? I have this sudden urge to chat with her. |

Hey folks, here's my other song, "Artifacts" that was inspired by the Titanic Artifacts exhibition. If you EVER get the chance to see it, by all means do so! It's absolutely terrific. I sent a copy of this song to the RMS Titanic society, but haven't heard back from them yet.
Enjoy!
(By the way, to speed up download time I'm attaching lower quality .mp3 files than what will be on the finished cd) |

Haunting piece, Artifact. Very nice. By all means, let me know when your new CD comes out.
I'd love to see the Titanic artifacts exhibit. I imagine it's not traveling yet. Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll come to South Florida. The Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale is pretty good with bookings. They got the King Tut exhibit here. It was amazing to see pieces I've read about for decades. My old office from my previous life was decorated with papyrus paintings. The Ancient Egyptians were a little too hung up on death for my taste, but were incredible artisans, architects and scientists. |
