I saw part of that footage before - but this was amazing - and frankly the song was part of why I am bawling right now.

I'm sure there are wildlife animal experts, who will question if this is at all possible, but who cares...

A very touching video.

The song is better by Dolly Parton who I understand wrote it.

I am sorry to be a crusty old fart but I question the validity of the movie.

Oh it's absolutely true, Colin, but quite old. Try either Googling "Christian the Lion" or go to wikipedia.org for it.

The guys bought the lion for the equivalent of $600 U.S. dollars in 1969. Since most lions only live to be about 12-14 years old, it's sad to realize that Christian the lion has been dead now for about 25 years or so.

And by the way, go to YouTube and there are about 9 videos there, each one about 8-9 minutes long, chronicling the story.

Colin's query prompted me to try to use Hoaxbusters to ask the question - SHOCK of SHOCKS - it's gone!

It was a fabulous source to determine if something you got sent was a hoax or not. Snopes is still around, but it doesn't seem to have the depth of information. Does anyone know of any other sources to check on hoaxes?

I was waiting for the mauling to commence... Kind of threw me for a loop there. All I know is that when my cats do that, they want food..
Do we know what happened to these guys after the tape stopped rolling?

I have no doubt that the scrolling story is absolute poo, and had my speakers on my puter actually worked, I wouldn't have made it through without gagging.

That being said

Oh da coot kitties.. tum 'ere kitteee kitteee.. oh booshy boosh.. wub da wittle kittie... who's a coot kittee.. rub a bay bee..

Oh Sara, ye of little faith.

None of these links necessarily make it true but still...:

Scott,

Well, I was touched by the video!

Maybe I'm too jaded, but I was waiting for the lion to clamp on the guy's head!! So glad that didn't happen.

I am amazed to find that the lion actually acclimated to the wild after his domesticated upbringing! I get sad when man gets too involved in the natural order of things!

But it's still sweet....

I don't care if it's fake or edited.... I'm crying my freakin eyes out!
Dang....I just got mascara on my silk blouse. keks?

Sorry, I'm a cat lover. Lions, Tigars, Panthers, etc are wild animals and I accept the fact that they are not part of the human order of "mans best friend." However; a part of the animal kingdom is the domestic house cat and they DO remember who feeds them, cares for them, and return their love and affection to their owners. Domesticated house cats didn't learn this behavior overnight. Somewhere deep inside their psyche, it came from their ancestors. Love a Lion. Love a Tigar. Love a Panther. But then run like hell. Wink

My MaineCoon's Jethro and Ian: Jethro on the left died in Oct 05 of a sudden heart attack , but I still have Ian (pictured on the right).

Thanks for the video Scott. It made me cry.....good crocodile tears.

For the record, I like domestic house cats. Had them since I was a toddler. Had one for 17 years. Cried over another one when it was dying of cancer and purred in my arms even though it could hardly breath from a tumor.

Just wanted to be clear on that point.
