I'm not sure exactly how this ties in here, but in a way it seems to. I've seen some of these leads. Obviously I wouldn't respond to these, but I also haven't been able to answer a single legitimate lead on any of the voice sites I belong to during the past week due to my Lasik surgery (I plan to start answering some tomorrow though), but interestingly I've had 3 jobs come out of the blue to me this past week, all really NICE projects with anything from good to excellent budgets. And really odd was that one found me thru V123. A local Atlanta producer who was looking for local talent and found me thru v123. A really classy job, nice budget. Another was a referral from one of my past clients to someone she knew, and the third found me via a Google search.

What I think CAN happen is that over time, and with talent, experience, and exposure, the better jobs will often find you and things like the garbage we're seeing discussed on this thread become easier to simply laugh off. There are those just trying to get a toehold in this business, or with no experience, or possibly not a ton of talent, that will go for these because at that point ANY nibble beats nothing at all.

Yes, budgets and leads like that are absurd. But we KNOW they are NOT getting any kind of decent talent at those rates. It's sort of like having a Kia dealership next to a BMW dealership. There really ISN'T any competition because anyone walking into either dealership is NOT interested in what the other one sells. Well, okay, so the Kia customer WISHES he could buy the BMW, and may even go in and kick a few tires, but in the end, he's gonna get a Kia.

Uh...... did any of that make any sense??

I understood what you meant, Scott. It's like trying to find a pair of Prada shoes in K-Mart. Wink

and how many non-payers and frauds at V123 that are known are still posting jobs?

six to one, half dozen to another

downside of the Internet as a business medium. You don't really know who you're dealing with. Frankly, too many folks out there are far too trusting IMO.

and too many of us have been burned for it.

Dear Coldwell Banker Agent,
My name is Jennifer. We are planning to buy a house in Palo Alto area. We also would need to sell our house in San Jose. We are looking for someone to be our agent in both transactions. You must have prior transaction history in both areas. We will pay up to a combined of 5% in commission .

Back to grammar school for you, Jennifer! Can they add any more prepositions to that sentence?

Esther.

Jennifer has bad grammar, but I'd sell my soul and say anything to get my hands on those Prada Silk Crystal Stilettos!
