Welcome to the Kingsport Sculpture Walk.

Located in Downtown Kingsport Tennessee, come take a stroll down the streets and see exhibits from touring artists around the country.

"Kneeling Communication Tower"
Eric Troffkin received his MFA degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art in
Bloomfield Hills, MI. His work has appeared in numerous exhibitions and he has been
the recipient of several awards and honors. He was awarded the Athanasios Demeterios
Skouras prize two years in a row as well as the Amherst College Wise Fine Arts Prize.
Other honors he has received include the Ford Foundation Thesis Grant and the
President’s Discretionary Fund Grant. His works and craftsmanship have also been
a topic for discussion in several publications, including Zingmagazine and TimeOut
New York. Troffkin completed his Artist Residency at the Cite Internationale
des Arts in Paris, France, a foundation for professional artists who want to develop
artistic work in France. He currently teaches at Washington University in St. Louis.

"Continuum"
Jodi Hollnagel-Jubran graduated from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in
1992 with a BFA in Sculpture and a K-12 grade Art teaching certification. She
taught for a few years in the public school system until deciding to develop her
career in Sculpture. After graduating from East Carolina University in 1998 she
was fortunate to receive several large-scale figurative bronze commissions.
Jodi and her husband Hanna Jubran own and operate J&H Studio, Inc where
they make and exhibit their work. They both teach at East Carolina University
and enjoy traveling around the world participating in international
sculpture symposiums.

"Hobie's Dilemma"
Douglas Gruizenga received both his B.S. degree
in Art Education and his M.A. in Art Practice
from Western Michigan University. His primary
emphasis at Western was in cast and welded
metal sculpture. He assisted in the construction
of much of the foundry equipment, and
coordinated pours of up to 2200 pounds of
sculpture in a single day.
Gruzienga also has experience in plaster,
ceramics, wood, concrete, and composites, and
his work has been selected for numerous exhibits
and installations.

"Divided"
Born and raised in North Carolina, Kyle Van
Lusk finds inspiration in the balance of beauty
and strength in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Raised in a small town near Brevard, NC, Lusk
was encouraged by his parents to become an
artist. He earned both his BFA and MFA from
East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.
Since completing his graduate work, Lusk has
created and displayed work in several juried
outdoor sculpture competitions. He also has
works in permanent collections and on loan to
university campuses throughout North Carolina.
Kyle taught at Appalachian State University
and is currently an Assistant Professor of Art at
Brevard College in Brevard, NC. He
presently resides in Brevard with his wife Heidi,
son Declan and daughter Julia.

"Navigator"
Bill Brown was raised in an environment of artistic exploration and creative exchange
at Penland School of Crafts, in the mountains of North Carolina. This unique
environment allowed him to participate in the creative process with both established
and emerging artists. Brown’s educational process continued with a year-long
apprenticeship in 1977 to artist-blacksmith Ivan Bailey in Savannah, Georgia. In 1978,
he received a National Endowment for the Arts scholarship grant to participate in a
research exchange project with master blacksmiths at Southern Illinois University at
Carbondale.
Since opening his studio in 1978, Brown has created numerous sculptures and
sculptural commissions for individual and corporate collectors across the United States.
Invitational exhibitions, competitions, gallery shows, and museum exhibitions have also
included examples of his work in a wide range of exhibitions.

"embrace"
Samuel Burns spent two years in commercial photography with Norling Studios
in High Point, NC. He also designed and constructed animal exhibits for ten
years for the NC Zoological Park as well as designed model construction as
part of the park’s construction plans. In 1984, Burns created his own company,
designing and building artificial rock and waterscapes for private as well as
commercial projects. For the last 5 years, Burns has tapped into his creative side
through sculpture and photography. His work has been exhibited in several
galleries including the Hollis Gallery and 1918 Studio & Gallery, both located in
Chattanooga, and the Art Exchange in Hot Springs, AR.

"bow"
William Donnan received his MFA from the
University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia in 1975.
During the first five years of his professional
career, Donnan worked as an exhibit design
technician in the Exhibit Design and Graphics
Department of the North Carolina Zoological Park
in Asheboro, NC. Since then, he has stayed busy
as an artist, consultant and lecturer. His works
have been shown in exhibitions across the U.S.

"Northwest Passage III"
Greg Bailey was born and raised in the California
Bay Area. His love of sculpture started with his
grade school “clay days,” as he waited eagerly
for each annual day of working with clay. He
majored in art at Sonoma State University and
graduated with honors in ceramic sculpture. He
received his MFA from the Hartford Art School
at the University of Hartford. He taught a wide
range of classes during and after achieving his
MFA degree. Bailey currently works as an
Assistant Professor at Connecticut College,
teaching Sculpture and 3-D design classes.
Bailey specializes in large-scale installations,
transforming spaces with his artwork. He
incorporates motion, sounds, and a wide range of
media into his sculptural installations. Working
with fiberglass resin, cast plastics, steel, bronze
and many other sculpture medias, Greg aims to
challenge his audience’s perception of space
and time.

"Within/Without"
In 1983, Michael Warrick received his MFA in both Sculpture and Ceramics
from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL. Since then, he has taught
Sculpture, 3-D Design and Ceramics at universities and colleges across the U.S.
He has also taught workshops and been invited to many universities as a visiting
artist and lecturer. Warrick currently has work on display in both public and
private collections. In 2001, he was commissioned to design and build the
University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s 75th Year Celebration Plaza and
Arch/Carillon, a project that included designing a sculpture/arch/carillon, plaza,
terrazzo pathways, benches and landscaping. He was also involved in a coalition
between Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive Neighborhoods, Inc., and the city of
Little Rock, in which his concept design work included sidewalks, intersections,
benches, sculpture and fountains in pre-cast concrete, brick, ferro cement,
aluminum, ceramic tile, water, natural gas and bronze.

"Cosmological Principle"
Hanna Jubran received his MFA in Sculpture from the University of Wisconsin-
Milwaukee. He is currently a professor at East Carolina University in Greeneville,
NC. Prior to his appointment at ECU, he taught ceramics, sculpture and
three-dimensional design at UWM and the Milwaukee Institute of Art and
Design. Jubran sculpts in bronze, wood, stone and steel, and his works range from
freestanding interior and wall pieces to monumental outdoor pieces. It is
important to Jubran that each of his sculptures not only visually appealing but also
pleasing to touch. Since 1996, he has participated in over 278 exhibitions,
international symposia, national and international conferences, and over 50
lectures and workshops. For every symposium he has participated in, his sculpture
has been kept as part of that town’s or organization’s permanent collection. He
has also completed major works of art in Germany, Canada, Cuba, Denmark and
the U.S.

"Eat the Rain"
Andrew Yff graduated from Towson University in
Towson, MD with an MFA in Studio Sculpture.
His work is currently on display in exhibitions
and juried shows around the country. He stays
busy designing and creating sculptures,
sculptural furniture, outdoor sculpture, gates and
window grates, forged candleholders and
bookends, and more. In 2007, he worked with the
Baltimore Office of Promotion and Arts on the
Baltimore Sculpture Project handling the outdoor
sculpture site preparation and installation of
39 pieces.

"Silent Motion in Red"
Wayne Trapp graduated from the Art Institute of
Pittsburgh. He continued his studies in
drawing and painting at Carnegie Mellon and the
Art Students League in New York. He then
studied printmaking at Pratt Institute before
receiving his BFA from Ohio State University.
For over four decades he has created both small
and monumental scale sculptures for private
collectors, corporate clients, Universities and
Museums in the United States and Europe. A
recently published book titled “Journey of a
Sculptor” illustrates many of these sculptures. It
is available from Dancing Fish Press.

"Flutter Gate"
Jim Gallucci, a graduate of LeMoyne College and Syracuse University
(MFA - Sculpti 1976), has been a sculptor for over 25 years. He has worked as an
art instructor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the University
of Alabama at Huntsville. He was also an exhibit designer for the North Carolina
Zoological Park in Asheboro, NC.
Presently, Jim works full time designing and fabricating sculptures in his
Greensboro studio. Each May, he shows a sculpture at the Pier Walk Sculpture
Show in Chicago, the world’s largest outdoor sculpture show. Jim has also been
selected for such international shows as the World Expo 88 in Brisbane, Australia
and the 7th Henry Moore Grand Prize

Interesting. 3 proposals (out of 50)submitted and the job is now closed. Maybe someone gave them some constructive advice.

We don't have a big budget but this could be an interesting useful service to take off. So we hope you approach this as a fun project and not just for income. fluchen

Here is an all time low for being cheaper than cheap. Just saw this which was posted on Craigslist in Peru. The remuneration is $3 an hour. The second to last line is just too much all applictions that don't meet out budet will be rejected imediately.

Damn...in the time it took me to read this thread I could have made 60 bucks. That's a tank of gas...dinner for one at
Morton's(no wine)...a new outfit from Target. I need to make better use of my time.
