Hey guys!
Been awhile since I've posted, but I'm starting to get stuck as to where to go next with my voice over career. I'm doing lots of non-union work, and now that my demo has been duplicated, I'm sending it out to production houses and whatnot.
But I'm a little stumped as to what route to go with agencies. I could send it to the biggies and hope that they like it or might call me in the future. But I've been thinking that the biggies won't be very interested unless I'm union (which I'm not yet, just can't afford the 1300 bucks right now). So I've been thinking about trying some mid-sized agencies first, hopefully they can help with the non-union stuff, and once i've built up my resume a bit more and saved up the proper amount, I can go union and then try the bigger agencies?
Thoughts on this? Or am I coming at it from completely the wrong approach? If I am going the right direction, can anyone recommend some mid-level agencies in LA?
Thanks guys,

Well, Aaron, the rule on agents is...there are no rules. Some will tell you that they won't rep a non union talent since they are union franchised agents. Then, every once in a while, a franchised agent signs a non union actor.
You can try to secure an agent in LA by being non union, but it's hard. Are you in LA? Most won't rep out of town talent unless you come with accounts.
You can check out the LA agents at voiceoverresourceguide.com. Just keep in mind that your demo better be as good or better than the actors they already rep. It's close to impossible to get a second listen if they don't feel your first submission is brilliant. You can also research agent's clients at voicebank.net. Listen to the demos of the clients they already rep. If you don't think you top them in talent and demo, don't submit!!
