Hey everybody.....your gonna love this. Orson Wells really was one of the best, if not THE best, VO artist in history. This is an actual session from the 80's that circulated the studios. Mr. Wells is reading the scripts while watching a TV monitor. It's obvious WHO'S in charge here! At the very last you will hear Orson say "No amount of money is worth this". 4minutes

Here is an "on location" session with KFC founder Colonel Sanders. It's obvious that, after the session, the engineer did some editing to make it more entertaining but it's still very funny.

WARNING on this one! RATED R for extreme AL. This is Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis on a TV set recording a promo for their new movie "The Caddy". Don't know the year but it must have been late 50's or early 60's.

Sid:
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Those are treasures. Wow.
Sounds like Orson, Jerry, and Dean had had a couple of pops before hitting the studio, and the Ol' Colonel may have been sniffing his recipe too long.
Great, great stuff.
Must be a trip to be THE celebrity voice. Imagine us little folk getting away with that stuff?
By the way, that Dean Martin could really deliver lines with some oomph, too.
Love it.

...but he was also a writer/director/cinematic genius, talk-show host (as he is here, which requires more talent, quick-thinking and hootspa than merely reading copy) and other things. Who can forget his "War of the Worlds" skit that was so believable it caused worldwide panic! Great stoyteller.
I heard he said that he spent 90% of his life hustling to get money to make his creations (not to mention pay the bills) and 10% of his life creating. In that vein, he was no different from any of us. I'm sure he made a great deal of cash there near the end of his life in the late seventies being the on-camera spokesperson for the Paul Masson winery ("We shall serve no wine...before its time."). Wouldn't be surprised if he sampled a great deal of their product-!

Oohh, boy, I'd love to download the full-length version of this "War of the Worlds" broadcast. Where'd you get it? I'm sure Orson wrote this too...what a gifted guy. Funny how Orson's voice has a hint of British/colonial-American flavor to it.
Not to get too far off topic here, but...anybody like Spielberg's movie (narrated in Orson Welles style by Morgan Freeman)? I thought it had potential but needed more of the big epic battle scenes between our military and the aliens like the 1953 George Pal version. But I suppose we were already treated to that in Roland Emmerich's "Independence Day", and Spielberg's movie (with Tom Cruise's salary thrown in) was already pretty pricey budget-wise.
