Brian:
Here's some real good advice: read through the 2000-odd posts here.
Lots of advice for those who look.
Good Luck

Brian,

Welcome. Now for the hard truth...your demo sucks bad. You got the fever and the only prescription is...no, not cowbell...research and maybe some valium...lol.

Before you attempt one more voice over, read this book my friend - "The Art of Voice Acting" by James A. Alburger and do what Robert said above.

Good luck. Post a demo when you think you are ready. You can do it with proper training, practice, equipment, practice, research, practice...etc. Wink Don't mean to be so brutal but you'll thank me later.

Gotta go with Victor on this one, dude. Do some research, practice, take some classes, practice, practice, learn, practice....
It's about more than doing a voice...it's about acting.

Brian, I'd like to hear your voice. If you don't quite know what I mean, go to my site and listen to my demo called "comedy character." It's a guy I call "Leo" making fun of my main demo. If all you heard was Leo, how would you know what the voice actor really sounded like? Is Leo a 42 year old guy? Or a teenager? Or...a woman?

Listen to the demo "Young Character." Boy? Girl? What age? Okay, I'll admit, none of them are great, in fact, they are terrible - but you can't hear the real voice. Just like I can't hear your real voice. Please pick up a newspaper and find a few commercials for things like groceries, automobiles, clothing - and read the copy, and make a demo. Post it on your webpage and let me hear it. Once I hear it, I'll be able to see your voice more clearly and give you advice on what you need to do next.

There are some great, really fantastic voices in this forum, oh they make me wish I could cut a duo spot with them. But you know, most people have at least a nice voice - it's just that they have something in the way of that voice. Sometimes it is physical, and sometimes emotional. If you want a constructive critique, please let us hear the real you. You can't move forward if you don't know who the real you is, what is your (as it is now being called) "signature voice."

NOW GO GET THAT NEWPAPER AND GET BUSY!! Laughing

My brother is alot better voice actor than me, he does well with many imitations, and I have to say he has had suggestions to some acting courses.

I would have to say you people are correct. So I am going to consider looking at some acting(if possible emphasis on voice) books and consider some acting classes. I will try to improve what I can for now, which is just "listen and say" imitations.

Actually I'd suggest staying away from imitations. Come up with your own characters. It really isn't that important if you can do the voice of Gollum, because Andy Serkis already has that job. It doesn't matter if you can do porky Pig, because Bob Bergen has that gig. The point is, there's no point in imitating other characters because there's already someone out there who has that job and you won't be able to do it as well as them.

so strike out and come up with your own characters!

He also has technical issues. Bad sound.
