i want to set up a lil studio at my house but i'm not sure what equipment to get. I have an IMAC and i'm using garage band to edit but i need a mic and preamp... i think. I'm just not sure of the what and the how... any suggestions????

Kristine.... that's a wide open question with your budget being the leading piece of the puzzle. How much $$ are you prepared to spend to get started?

Hello Khristine,

Setting up a home recording studio can vary depending on your budget and needs.

You can set up a simple recording studio with a good mic, a preamp and recording software for your computer, there are many pieces of software and hardware in the market now.

Personally I do like the M audio preamps and Shure microphones, but you’ll find plenty of options.
