Bookmarked!
Thanks for linking this, Colin. That's quite an impressive collection of vintage OTR you have there. Planning to add some of the Jack Benny shows in the future?
I have a nostalgic thing for productions based on "A Christmas Carol" and I downloaded the Mercury Theatre one. I was a little disappointed with Orson Welles' performance as Scrooge--the voice was a little forced and overdramatic. Granted, I only listened to the first and last 10 mins of it, but what I heard was nothing as good as performances I've heard by Sir Laurence Oliver, Lionel Barrymore, Patrick Stewart, or Tenniel Evans (British actor who voiced Scrooge in a production done by The Adventures in Odyssey people).
The Lionel Barrymore one is unintentionally hilarious to me because it's like listening to Mr. Potter as Scrooge. If you haven't heard it, you should try finding a copy. I got one in the discount bin at Walmart for a couple bucks. Interestingly enough, Orson Welles serves as narrator on this one...a role he was much better suited for for radio dramas. It was also produced with the Mercury Theatre company.
OTR is one of the primary things that influenced me to want to be a VO guy. I was involved in some radio dramas in college, and I've been trying to work out my schedule so I can be involved with the Atlanta Radio Theater Co although I have sat in on a couple of their rehearsals.
I was the "designated" night driver for a music group I toured with, and I would've never made it through the night without XM Radio's "Radio Classics".

Recent posts are kinda dominated by a indie group that produces mostly scifi radio dramas, but there's vintage stuff on there and in the files and links sections if you poke around a bit. _________________ Founder/Host: The voice actor Appreciation Group |

I have nearly every Jack Benny show that has been posted on the OTR newsgroup over the years. Sheer genius in the writing, performance and production. If you need any for your site Colin, do let me know, I have at the moment 5 CDRs I have compiled, possibly hundreds of shows. I also have his appearance on Suspense, on a commercial CD.

Jack Benny is one of my favorites as many probably know from other posts.
Right now I am working on transferring from cassette a complete broadcast day from September 21, 1939 of WJSV Washington.
Arthur Godfrey in the morning (before he went "network" on CBS.)
A ton of 15 minutes soaps
A baseball broadcast of the Washington senators with Walter Johnson as the color commentator.
A live speech from FDR on the "Lend-Lease" act.
Night time includes music live from various ballrooms, one with Louie Prima.
All that from one day, the same day.
I'll let you guys know when I get it done and posted. _________________ www.ColinCampbellVoice.com
