| I am not sure all of you will sympathize with this issue. I admire and dream that I can be as good as most of you one day in the field of voice-overs. As I have read here before, someone has written more than once..."You have to Start Somewhere" I have been a member since late November 07, took voice over lessons for most of last year and continue to do so today... Created my home studio, produced a demo...Bam!, Voice 123 updates the system. Most of you may look upon this with a smile, but the newbies are being weeded out. One of the first questions is "What year did you start your voice over Career?" Since I truthfully started in 2007, that is what I answered. However, the voice seekers are asked how much experience they require when creating a lead. (I verified this with Customer Service today) I am positive no voice seeker selects 1 year...Hence no leads for me since Friday. I no longer match any voice seeker profile...Is this fair? I am not sure, but really feel as though I wasted the money for this service. I am not relying on V123 to feed my family or pay the bills. But, since everyones profile requires them to list their experience, I feel it is a travesty for new guys to have to admit they have only been in the business for a year and have it used against them. If I don't win the audition because the rest of you are better, I understand. But, I won't even get to compete anymore...because I am certain the voice seeker will select a number greater than 1 year when it comes to experience. Any thoughts? |

Alex,
I completely sympathize with your feeling left behind. However, I got a lead today that said years of experience didn't matter, so I think you will still get some leads. Since this version is new, I think we need to watch what happens in the coming days before we proclaim it broke.
Let's give it more time to see what shakes out.
My humble opinion, only... _________________ Lori Furth

I've seen a handful come thru that only required 1 year of experience.
Personally, becomes I'm a selfish, greedy s.o.b., I really wish they'd had a 30+ year checkbox there to click on. Boy, that'd narrow down the playing field, eh?

I just checked the ten most recent SmartCast leads I have received and eight of them did not specify a level of experience. The only two that did require experience (3 years in each case) were the lowest paying jobs and were immediately discarded. _________________ For more voice over demos, my life story, and other foolishness, please visit my website at www.leegordonproductions.com |
