For those of you looking to gain a little more exposure for your website, (and who isn’t?) consider adding a sitemap. It might be common knowledge to some but it’s something new to me. When Google, Yahoo, and other search engines spider (or bot) your site they may only go so far as your first page. Generally they find your page from outside links and if the links only point to your homepage, that might be all they record. You should look to have all your pages listed.
The answer?
Sitemaps!
Go to xml-sitemaps.com, generate your sitemaps for free and upload all four files (XML, ROR, Text, HTML) to the main folder of your website. Then set up a Google Webmaster Tools account to submit your sitemap.xml. Also go to Yahoo Site Explorer and add it there.
