I'm excited to have landed a job as the "announcer" on a Public Service Announcement for Diabetes. My dad has diabetes and so it's something close to my heart. It promotes this helpful site:

www.accuchek.com/takecharge

It was the result of a direct invitation (don't get too many of those). If I understood him correctly, the producer held onto one of my previous auditions from another project. There are two other voice actors featured (a male and a female). The producer told me their names but it was no one I recognized.

The spot begins airing this weekend.

Catch it on dLife, Sunday at 4 PM PST on CNBC.

Good for you Dave. I got the Wrangler Jean spot too! My cousin has Diabetes. She also has bladder cancer. I pray for her all the time. She's very old though so maybe it's just her time.

Congrats, Dave! I auditioned for the gig and I am diabetic myself, but I guess that wasn't good enough.

And why am I NOT surprised?? The only thing that surprises me here is that it's been more than a couple of days since we heard that the big D landed another one.

We'd LOVE to hear it, Dave!
And of course, it couldn't happen to a more deserving guy. Waytago!

Yeah, I was hoping to get that one too. My mom's diabetic and people are always "helping" her -- unsolicited. Glad you were part of the chosen few!

Congrats!

WTG Dave! My father and brother both suffer from Diabetes. I understand why it's a subject close to your heart.

I have a question about it's pronunciation. Some folks say,
"DIA-BEE-TEES" and others say "DIA-BE-TIS".
Which way did you pronounce it?

BTW, Colin...is my quotation in the right place? Laughing

I said "DIA-BEE-TEES" and they didn't have me do it over... and I guess THEY would know. Very Happy

Thanks for the congrats everyone! I actually just landed another gig today (my 2nd TOS job). It was an instructional video production thing for a website... got it within 15 minutes of sending my audition. Gotta love it when that happens!

It's a huge blessing that jobs are coming in because we (my wife and kids and I) are in the process of trying to adopt a child from Ethiopia through Holt International... and it ain't cheap! Every little bit helps...

So, if all you guys would refrain from doing any auditions for a month or two... and send me all your work... we'd bring a child home in no time! Laughing

Just kidding... honestly, you're encouragement is priceless... except for Deby (whom I paid $10 to get the "congratulations" ball rolling on this thread).

Would you settle for a donation of diapers and formula? Laughing

I'm not trying to hyjack the thread, but CONGRADULATIONS are in order for you Dave! Adopting a child is a huge undertaking and I applaud you and your family for your efforts. noch cooler

Good Luck!!
