Hi-

I just moved office space and have an 8' (W) x 8' (H) x 4 (D) closet that I want to use as a recording space. However there's an echo in there.

Can you recommend a solution for removing the echo. I understand that I need foam from a company like Auralex, or some solution like that, but there are so many options, I'm completely confused.

If you had to deaden the echo in a room that size what would you use?

Obviously I'd also like to dampen outside noise as well.

Thanks.

Aharon

I like this stuff.

You can get it thicker for about twice the price if you like.

Hi Aharon,
Here's a couple of links from another thread provided by Chris Clementson
http://www.atsacoustics.com/
http://www.ethanwiner.com/acoustics.html

I use acoustic panels from
http://www.gikacoustics.com
and have been very pleased with the results.
A quick fix would be to hang as many clothes in the closet as you can.
Good Luck,
John

Aharon

just a little thought beyond the valuable hints given by my colleagues here: Buying acoustic panels on a "buy and fire" basis sometimes reminds me to buying medication before having seen your PHD. If you're planning on a "long time basis" to build your own studio (e.g. in your own house, knowing that you will stay and work there for several years) it might be a good advise to hire a professional acoustics engineer that will measure your studio and choose (or even have built) your perfect acoustic panels. I did that 4 years ago when I bought my own house and I would never regret having done that (maybe expensive) step: it was definitely worth the investment.
