What the...??

Okay, now that I've got that out of my system:

This is a really weird, low-quality clip. I would suggest you take it down off your page. I would actually suggest you take down your page until you have done the work to begin.

IF you insist that you are really intrigued by voice acting, first listen to what you hear in media and be honest with what your potential is for ever getting cast professionally in this highly-competitive business. Please don't be delusional. I'm willing to bet you're too smart for that. If you think you really have skill/talent/gifting (and I'm not saying you don't...how would I know? It's not showing in the above clip) THEN you go learn from working professionals one on one (not the make millions from home as a VO pro!!! kind of folks) Read books on the art and the business. Look on the "good read" topics. Listen. Listen. Listen. Then practice. Practice. Practice. Then you can begin to begin.

This is a business. As a hobby it's only expensive and frustrating. Well...actually it's kind of expensive and frustrating as a business, too... Laughing

But whether you can get into the biz or not, ALWAYS read to your son. I can attest that there will never be a more lovely or loving audience. And, honestly, that is more than enough.

Blunt is often the kindest thing.

Hi Melba - Sorry about the quality sounding clip. I realize this. I should have warned you ahead of time.

I am just trying to get my feet wet and determine if there is potential. This is not something I would submit absolutely.

I realize the work involved. I do have a friend who worked for Chum AM years ago so making a mockery of the business isn't in my vocabulary.

I was however just having fun with the three toed tree frog LOL

Somehow I stumbled across Voice123 and I tried a few things and wound up here.

Re: reading to my son, always. Those moments will be forever cherished. No work could ever compare and no work could ever "pay" as much.

Thanks for filling some of the void.

Debs

Debbie,

Listen to Melba. Trust me. She knows of what she speaks.

And this very minute, go to this thread:

http://voiceoversavvy.com/ftopic4098.html

and read the 'sticky' at the top.

Thanks.

thanks Scott - I can't say that I've had those comments or moments, but it's a great post hands-down.

BTW - great site you have. I must agree with the critiques. I was amazed at how you were going from one "feel" to the next within such a short time span. I guess that's what 30+ years of "performance" will do for a dedicated VO.

cheers
