Hello All

When it comes to VO work we all know it begins with the Microphone. Much thought goes into selecting the right one for your voice. No one microphone can clam the title as best of show. With that in mind, I just wanted to let this community know that I am now a dealer for Peluso Microphones. My goal is to serve the needs of the VO community.

I will be as price competitive as possible, but will not publicly discuses price. In the future, I will set up a web portal for my envisioned sale company. My thoughts are that I will focus on VO artist and be a systems integrator more so than a retailer.

BTW John Peluso for several years was a recording engineer in Chicago. His forte was production audio for radio, TV and film. His understanding of the VO business from the production side is substantial. It is because of his affinity for VO production that I was able to get permission to be price competitive to special this special class of user.

No it doesn't. It begins with the talent. I'll take a strong talent with a cheap mic over a poor talent with an expensive mic any day of the week.

Sorry, but it had to be said.

That said, I'll also toss my thumbs up for the Peluso mics. Definitely nice little mics within that particular price point and if you're selling them at discounted prices even better Very Happy

I think it actually starts with a script.....unless it's improv....

Wrong again. We are talking here about the recording process of the spoken words. Scripts are the written word.

He's right it's the talent unfortunately..I remember when we were looking for a talent to do a commercial and all they had to do was read a short line (10 words) in active running wear...

Some of the talents had on some really expensive running out fits, giving the script their best and after hearing 200 folks audition for it, it came down to one..Some folks think it's the clothes that make the person or is it the person who makes the clothes...

To be honest we had already selected her before she actually auditioned for the camera session or met the rest of the 175 ...

We heard her practicing the script, 10 words of course but it was the sound we were looking for.... someone who could bring the text to life. Kind of like Joe J Thomas, able to create the emotion and effect without the use of sound effects...

Have to agree with Ed, but I have always dreamed of having a nice mic behind the glass on the top shelf at SamAsh...Perhaps when the government launches that economic stimilus package I can get a new mic with my refund...

I'll keep using sound effects....

I still think that even the best magician can not pull a rabbit out of the hat if there is no rabbit already in the hat.

This is more about a great performance than VO.....but I remember doing a rather dull murder mystery play. The newspaper reporter titled the article "Actors Almost Save Murder" Basically he said that even though the acting was great.....the script was dull....The whole cast agreed with him. The reason that script was chosen was because it did not require a set.

You have to have something good to work with.....unless it's improv....where you have to have an excellent imagination. The fact is I can perform with or without a mic... either singing or speaking.....Film...audio....stage....They are just the mediums....A mic is like a tube of lipstick to a stage actor.......Just another tool to help create an illusion.

Also the Nike slogan "just do it!" is only 3 words long......but it's pure genius in my opinion. A bad actor could stubble on the words so you still need good talent....but the script is the foundation.

Just a reminder. If you are in the market for a microphone and you know about Peluso microphones or have a desire to learn more or maybe even buy one for your very own, check with me. I probably can save you some money. Script or no script.

If you've not seen this site, check it out. Tons on mic data. I don't know about Peluso mics and they are not listed on that site.

Mr. Gambill, from a business / marketing standpoint, it might be a smart move to try to get yours listed.

Where can I see / try one of your mics?
