In the beginning, back in October, seekers occasionally gave numbers to my audition. Here lately, they've all been "no rating received yet" Better than a bad rating, I know, but I'm trying to do what it take to start getting a job now & then. Please listen & tell me stuff I can use. Thanks, Tom

Tom:
You may not want to be hearing from me, since I'd cut off my right pan for an Opened but Unrated. I, too, have gone jobless since SmartCast threw its shadow over Voice123.
On the other hand, I make a modest living at this, so here goes:
It's quite all right. You have a certain engagement with the copy, and nice inflection. But there's a certain clenched sense to the delivery, as if your mouth is only half-open in a classic Clint Eastwood style. I'd suggest a phone call to the marvellous Phyllis K. Day, who is easy to find on the Search function. Any voice coaching may bring similar results, but Phyllis is a special friend to this board.
There is also some noticeable clicking on the piece, a mysterious little click that comes around some four, five times. This may be due to recording too close at low levels, and then amping it all up.
For this sort of thing, there's much info in the Geek section.
And lastly, do not worry overmuch about returns at Voice123. Firstly, you should expect some 80-100 auditions to go by before getting a nibble or two. And the big bites?
They're elsewhere.
Hang in. You sound like you got something going there.
Voice On!

Tom:
I couldn't tell enough from the clip you posted on Cannibus, so I went and had a listen to some of the demos on your site. what struck me was your naturability at the narrations and how-to bits. They are actually very pleasant to listen to in spite of what can sometimes be dull, dry stuff. You do those exceptionally well.
The first clip on your first demo (containing 'old leather jacket') works really well and feels genuine to me, but most of the rest don't, yet I can't quite say why. You need more reactions other than mine
If you haven't done this already, take one or two of your demos and post them on Critique My Demo. Others might be able to tell why something doesn't work and perhaps what to do with it.
Like Robert Jadah said, you need to relax a bit more. All I can add to that is build on the narration stuff. It's top notch! And keep using the forums, all of 'em!
