this is a movie trailer for a movie that does not exist. I was having fun trying to replicate a good 'light-hearted romantic comedy voice over' voice and i went a little over the edge.

anyway, it was a good recording experience and i thought i would throw it up here for y'all.

aside from obvious sound quality issues (ha! i beat Mr. Scott to it!), what else could use work?

i appreciate your participation Jedi Masters (nods to Mr. Jadah)

I like your delivery and voice. Obviously the other characters needed to be different voices.

I think this trailer needed some "Mojo", so I sweetened it for you.

sweetened? dude, this is too cool. my friends are going to get a kick out of this.

thanks for the encouragement and time Bill. I'll try to be a little more creative with the alternate voices next time in terms of producing them differently. the compression level definitely helps distinguish them from the main point, which is the voice announcing the movie.

how are things in Raleigh?

thanks again.

Hi Andrew,

Pretty good considering how hard it is to pull of a trailer and make it work! Not to mention making one out of nothing lol.

My tips would be lower the character voices a bit. The trailer voice should be featured.

Also, the delivery seemed a little cartoony. Too game-show-hosty. It seems like you're on the right track though, just tone it down a bit. Keep the same fun, happy read, but lose the sing-songy effect.

Good stuff!

hey thanks Lucas. i think i know what you're talking about, but i think that's gonna be a fine line for me. i can't get the growl that you pull off so well, so i'm kinda stuck way up here in baritone land. just seems like my reads would need to be real energetic....almost.....sing-songy......jk.

i'll do some work on the character voice levels maybe.

anyone know what Bill actually tweaked to make it sound like it's on the radio? i think he changed some compression settings, but can't be sure. one thing i did notice is (obviously) the background music tone also changed with the varying tweakage. I'd like to take the raw audio and pull off the same differential that Bill acheived with the voices, but without changing the score underneath it all. if anyone knows what Bill did (Bill?), then please let me know.

thanks again Lucas.

I re-EQed the "characters" voices, which also changed the music.
I would need seperate tracks to just change just the voices.

If you put it together again, EQ the characters (roll off the lower frequencies) before you put the music under.

I did a series of compressions on the whole spot to give it that on-air sound. I also did some manual volume adjustments on some of the voices and sfx.
