Do you remember that audition that came in a little while ago for Sharper Image that talked about their Robots that will massage you right there in the store? Got the call this morning... and the gig... nice way to start the week.

Coming soon to a radio near you in Sacramento, Portland (OR), Fresno, Minnesota (not sure which city), Albequerque and Richmond (VA).

Also landed an on hold thing for Pizza Hut last week... Happy New Year! roll smilie

That lead never came thru my box as far as I know, and it's a good thing it didn't, because then I would have submitted a wasted audition.

Sure... here's the audition I sent. The actual script changed a little, but it's pretty much like this. I don't know if they're adding music or background stuff.

As part of my regular duties as a Production Director here in Columbus, I was putting in "national" spots and as I was listening to one of them as it went into the automation system, I thought to myself... "That sounds like DAVE!" Indeed it was. How cool to recoginze a Savvy voice as I go about my daily chores. Here's what is running in Columbus re: Dave....

Here's one disturbing thing on this though. The client, in the traffic instructions was listed as "Bid4Spots." I did a little checking. Bid4Spots is just like the Google radio deal. I don't know if this trend is bad for VO's or not (Dave...were you paid fairly?) but it certainly is bad for local radio revenue. The supposed design of this model is "to sell unused inventory." However, more and more people are going to these type of sites to circumvent local sales reps and get their ads cheaper. Sort of a radio sales version of Voice123 only with the whole Google twist. The buyer bids instead of the seller quoting budget. Everything today is taking on the eBay model and that's what leads to $25 jobs at 123.

I've done work for Bid4Spots. They're good people and I've always enjoyed working with them. Since they don't know where/if the spots will run, compensation is a crapshoot, but I've not been unhappy.
