Not to put you on the spot or appear presumptuous, but Mr. Bergen's response was so good...
Per Mr. Bergen's comments in response to Ms. Leach's post about rates. I would like to know if Mr. Bergen has a "rate-card" that he could post...something that covers the usual:
Radio Commercials per market (S-M-L-Major)
TV Commercials per market (S-M-L-Major)
Promos plus Tags
etc.
...just a thought!
PS: If we all banned together and would be willing to abide by a respectable rate-card, we would do two things:
1) Establish a base from which to work, one whereby our craft is respected by online voice seekers as valuable and the online site is not seen as a place to get "cheap voices".
2) Improve the integrity of our business

Something I've been wondering specifically is how to charge for website narration. Obviously it's different for every site in regards to content, how long the piece is, things like that. But is there a standard? Does it count as industrial?
Thanks Bob! Or whoever else answers! |

Bob, this will be tremendously helpful to many. All my rates are based off the AFTRA list. What I was hoping for by asking you to lay things out is exactly what you did...you have provided an easy to understand presentation whereby those starting out and those who are interested in assessing their current rate card, can get their minds around it all...wonderful.
Certainly, these rates are "minimums" and personal studio use, HR and agents fees would be in addition to these rates if a producer happened to hire a union talent. Those who have this list will be now be on a strong foundation from which to build. If all talent would start from this same foundation, we would all be so much better off.
I am quite thankful for your time and effort in providing this chart. I'll copy this and offer it to those who would ask me in the future...my sincere thanks. |

You bet!!!
Yes-agent's fees are added onto the actor's salary. And yes, these are minimum (scale) fees listed above. With a union job an actor doesn't legally have to pay their agent commission unless they get over scale (which is the +10% added for the agent)
This information was from The voice-over Resource Guide. This is THE bible to the VO industry in LA. It lists every teacher, demo producer, agent, session fees, studios, etc. I understand plans are in the works to expand it to other cities in the future.
