I currently use PC Cool Edit 2.1 along with Mackie 1402 VLZ and RE 20 for VO work. I am considering changing to MAC software. Any thoughts on MAC software and if I should make the switch?

Are you unhappy with the PC software available to you? WOuld migrating to a Mac serve to increase your productivity or work to move you further in terms of personal or professional development? Is your existing hardware antiquated and you are in need of upgrading? Do you do other work, such as video editing that might make it desirable for you to have FInal Cut Pro?

I currently run on PC's. It is quite conceivable however that my next purchase will be Mac COmputers that will be running some flavor of Windows and mainly will "replace" my exisitng hardware. Whether or not I purchase and start using Mac applications depends alot on the environment for computing in the next 18 - 24 months.

There are several pundits who will tell you that the new genre of software will be all online applications, with little residing on your system and the utilization of hard drives and applications if you will in cyber space.

Currently I am led to beleive that many Windows XP applications will run faster and better on the new Mac's with the new OS, than on similarly priced PC's. I also understand that running Windows on top of a MAC OS also offers some greater security benefits.

SInce my upgrade path isn't for approximately 18 months, I will peripherally be paying attention to the marketplace until then. At which point, I will research things diligently and see how an overall plan works into my business and personal needs assesment at the time.

If your PC is powerful enough stick with it and spend the money you'd spend on a mac on a stellar mic preamp. That will really make the RE20 sing.
