It was sad to learn that The Golden Gate Bridge is the #1 choice of suicide by bridge in the world. The walk way isn't protected by a high fence, so it's easy for somone to climb over and fall to their death. In 2004 alone, 24 people lost their lives by committing suicide this way.
I walked across it one Christmas several years ago -- no thoughts of jumping off, however. Before we started our hike we really didn't think about the fact that the round trip would be more than two miles. On that particular day, we overheard conversations taking place all along the route in myriad languages, none of which seemed to be English. _________________ For more voice over demos, my life story, and other foolishness, please visit my website at www.leegordonproductions.com

"Ratatouille" was a work of art, IMHO. I saw it in the theater two weeks in a row. And I'm a tightwad, so you KNOW I loved it to drop that kind of dough. I was utterly blown away by Peter O'Toole's voicing of Anton Ego, the critic! A voice - AND delivery - to DIE for!
Absolutely. I am very encouraged by the quality of recent animated features. I also loved "Flushed Away". Ian McKellan as the voice of the Toad was perfect and those singing slugs! I loved it.

Haven't yet seen "28 weeks Later" but saw the first one "28 Days Later" which was really good. Also, if you haven't seen it, get the JAPANESE VERSION of "Dark Water", NOT the remade U.S. version. The dubbed Japanese version is REALLY CREEPY! Very Hitchcock-ian.
Those Japanese movies scare the BEJEESUS outta me!

"Blades of Glory" had its moments, but I liked "Dodgeball" better. I like a bit more esoteric comedies like "Waiting for Guffman" and "Happy Texas". LOVED Will Ferrall, though, in "Stranger than Fiction"!
I agree it wasn't the greatest comedy ever, but for pure escapist laughter, it fit the bill. I like "Waiting for Guffman" and others by that crew like "For Your Consideration" and the like. Improv movies. Love em.

Just watched "300" for the first time this weekend and absolutely, utterly HATED IT. I've never been more bored by a movie in my entire life. What was the plot? Repeated scenes of an outnumbered group of misfits slaughtering vastly larger armies. On the other hand I LOVED "Beowulf"!
Not your cup of tea eh. Well I liked it. It was definitely testosterone laden and I loved the look and the cinematography. Some amazing shots and sequences there. I liked it in the same way I liked "Sin City". I haven't seen "Beowulf" but I'll look for it on DVD.

Loved... LOVED... "I am Legend"! To a very minor degree it reminded me of "28 days Later".
Couldn't agree with you more. I thought it was more like "Resident Evil: Extinction" which I thought was also very good and how can you go wrong with Milla Jovovich, the hottest action heroine ever! I've loved her since "The Fifth Element".

Really wanted to like the "Astronaut Farmer" but simply could NOT get past the utterly impossible premise. C'mon, building not ONE but TWO rockets in your barn???
Well Scott, I guess they could not achieve an appropriate level of "suspension of disbelief" for you but hey, it's only a movie.

I'm sure someone must have mentioned this movie -- one of my favorite music documentaries -- THE LAST WALTZ, but in honor of their lifetime Grammy tonight, just had to post. Love this song, among so many others. THE BAND. Wow. Those were the days...

Just got back from seeing JUNO -- amazing performances by Ellen Page as the pregnant teenager and J.K. Simmons, her father. A wonderful film! And a great screenplay -- touching and witty -- I enjoyed it immensely. _________________ Diane

Getting ready for St. Patrick's day -- I'm not Irish, but I love the Irish, so celebrate I must! Years ago, I saw this film, and absolutely LOVED it -- great music movie. Set in Dublin, if I recall correctly -- THE COMMITMENTS.

Getting ready for St. Patrick's day
For some reason, your mention of St. Patrick's Day got me thinking about a scene from a Steve Martin film where he ended up singing that "Too Ra Loo Ra Loorah" (forgive my spelling) song to his father. But now I can't remember which film the scene is from... and it going to drive me nuts all day..anyone remember? _________________ Dave DeAndrea

Ember,
Well aren't you just a wealth of info! Thanks for keeping me sane.
The funny thing is a don't remember anything about the film except for that scene. Thought it was pretty funny when he hits the high notes at the end. _________________ Dave DeAndrea

Pop culture is my thang, Dave When my friends and I play "Scene It", it's all of them against me and I have to make it round the board twice to win. It's a curse to remember every movie and TV show I've ever seen! _________________ Life is short but sweet, for certain

Bless you. Em! Not only have you saved my sanity... you've also saved me a $2 rental fee!
He's just so funny!
I'm usually pretty good with pop culture but I've obviously met my match. Remind to use you as a Phone-A-Friend if I'm ever on Millionaire! _________________ Dave DeAndrea
