No threadjacking the movie thread!!! If you'se guys wanna start something ELSE up, take it outside!!!
If it's any consolation, when I was a kid (in the days before it was restored) the Palace was a movie theater. I saw Old Yeller there. Ticket was 50 cents -- twice what a non-Disney movie cost at the State or the Strand. _________________ For more voice over demos, my life story, and other foolishness, please visit my website at www.leegordonproductions.com

Took the fam to see Kung Fu Panda this afternoon... everyone loved it! Some very funny lines that I can't help but wonder if Jack Black ad libbed and they just "went with it".
I was laughing from the opening line which went something like...
"Legend has it that there's a legend of a legendary warrior whose kung fu skills were the stuff of legend!"
Some good VO work as well... didn't even recognize some of the actual actors and was surprised at the credits. Dustin Hoffman did a great job... I thinkk this was his first shot an animation.
I prefer watching animated stuff where I can't tell who the actor who's doing the voicing is so the character has more of a life of it's own. Even with CGI stuff.. like the Narnia movies... I like Liam Neeson... I like his voice... but all I picture is him when I hear Aslan speaking... would've preferred an unknown (or better disguised) voice... but I'm getting used to it.
Anywho...Kung Fu Panda gets a thumbs up from the DeAndrea clan. _________________ Dave DeAndrea

Last night at Wal-Mart I just happened to look thru the $5 DVD bin. Normally there's NOTHING in those bins worth having, but not this time! Besides X-Men 1 and 2, they also had "On Golden Pond" and "Terminator 2: Judgment Day", both which I bought.
Last night my son and I watched the special edition of T-2 and 17 years later it's still GREAT! Man it was fun watching that again! _________________ Scott R. Pollak Warm. Real. Natural. www.voicebyscott.com

The YouTube link will have to do.

Most of the superhero movies start looking the same after a while, but we just went to see The Incredible Hulk. Better than the first IMO, and the thing I liked the most... the big fight scene at the end reminded me of a modern day Ray Harryhausen flick. Kinda cool! _________________ Dave DeAndrea

You might find it interesting to know that Brian Cox (X-Men 2, The Bourne Supremacy, Braveheart) was originally cast as the voice of Aslan.
But for some reason the director changed his mind. Neeson reportedly wanted the role quite badly and pursued it, and somehow won the director over to the point that he decided to replace Cox with Neeson.
Cox has a unique-sounding and interesting vocal quality and style. I'd like to have heard his performance as Aslan because Neeson's voice is definitely not what I imagined hearing Aslan sound like when I read the books as a kid.
But someone I'm at least glad didn't get the role was David Suchet, who voiced Aslan in the audio dramatizations produced by Focus on the Family. While I certainly respect and admire Suchet's dramatic work in films and TV, his read for Aslan was very difficult for me to listen to. _________________ Founder/Host: The Voice Actor Appreciation Group

And so I haven't completely hijacked this thread -- for you horror-comedy enthusiasts out there I'd like to recommend "Fido."
Very entertaining, funny, and original take on the zombie horror movie. Think "Lassie" meets "Night of the Living Dead. Seriously, it's like a "family" zombie movie.
Carrie Anne-Moss (The Matrix, Memento) stars as the "Ozzie & Harriet" type 50's suburban housewife. Dylan Baker (Spider-Man 2 and 3, Delirious) plays Moss' uptight, paranoid husband. And Billy Connelly is hilariously subtle as the title zombie, and also look for Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother, Where Art Thou?) as the eccentric (and very funny) neighbor.

If you love art films and foreign films as much as I do, it is definitely worth seeing REPRISE, a Norwegian film with French sensibility -- very much influenced by Truffaut. A film about self-doubt, youthful ambition, love and rebellion -- even against rebellion itself.
Interesting character study and themes, fascinating cinematography, truly wonderful young actors. Great edgy music track as well.
Caution: don't see it if you're already depressed. _________________ Diane

I agree with JC...loved Iron Man. As soon as I heard they had picked Robert Downey Jr. for Tony Stark, I knew they had a winner. I've been a comic fan boy, and I knew they had nailed the casting (Tony became an alcoholic at one point in the comics). They gave his some depth, and they're setting things up for crossovers and an Avengers movie down the line. If you go, stay through the credits...it's key.
Haven't seen the Hulk yet, but I will.
As for Indy, I don't know...I saw it, but went away a little disappointed. I felt the climax was predictable.
Waiting for baited breath for The Dark Knight...the more they show in the trailers, the more I think Heath Ledger may be the best Joker yet...scary!
