Joined several weeks ago - but just got my first paycheck - for a prologue to an audiobook. Yee-haw! Is there a way to get paid through this website? I just had the guy send me a check. I'm gonna put a shopping cart on my personal website (http://www.sonicvoiceandvision.com) at some point.

Congrats! Your demos sound great. I joined recently too--still getting the lay of the land though and hoping for that first "gig".

Joel, congrats on the gig! That's great to get one so quickly. Set up your account here to enable paypal payments. That's how most people here seem to do it.

Oh, something else I forgot to comment on in my response, Joel. You mentioned a shopping cart for your site. I'm actually a full-time web designer along with doing the v/o work (AND radio.... sheesh... no life at all!) and unless you're actually selling a PHYSICAL ITEM such as books, cds, etc., I think it would be a waste of time and money. For starters, you'll pay quite a bit extra for your monthly hosting, you'll also need to set up a merchant account with your bank to take credit cards, and you'll have to pay an annual fee for a security certificate. If all you're selling is services, I'd either just bill your clients (as I do) or set up a PayPal link.

BTW, please take a moment to visit my web design site:
http://www.spasticlizard.com
and voiceover site:
http://www.voicebyscott.com

And congrats again on your first gig here and best of luck in the biz!

Kudos on the check Joel!

Always a kick to get paid Wink

Scott's on the mark about PayPal vs. a cart app for your site. Unless you're selling a large volume of product, the cart will be more trouble than it's worth.

Happy Holidays,

Glad I didn't waste time or money on a shopping cart then. I did add the paypal button to my profile. I'm getting lots of good info form these forums. I'm working on a websote, too - but it needs a lot of work, graphically and navigation-wise. I'll solicit feedback on the website in another post once i've got it halfway decent.
