u-Law is a standard telephony format. What software do you use to capture and save?

Wow - I've never used any of those. I use Adobe Audition and Vox Studio. And I have a copy of Sound Forge somewhere.

From what I know of the software you mention, they are more for music, so I don't know if they would have this telephony format.

I don't know anything about telephony but I did come across this audio file converter that may or may not be helpful.

Brett,
I would be curious to hear your results with the smart audio software. I use Sonar 4 to do my recordings.

Regards,

Jamie

Thank you Joe, your tip did give me the results I was looking for. Now I need to experiment a little with how the recording needs to be before the conversion, right now the quallity is substandard.

Thank you Joe,

Capture at 44.1 / 16 bit, then convert. Do not capture at 8 bit or it will sound awful.
