I had an idea last night. It needs feedback and refining. Or not...you be the judge.
What if we started a forum that is used to post projects that we won!
This would serve several purposes.
1. It would let everyone who bid on the project know that someone really did get it.
2. We could hear what the client was listening for.
3. And if you really felt like sharing...What the winning bid was.
I think it would really benefit all of us.
Whadda ya think?
I'll start:
Here is a project I won for...don't laugh...Pigeon Racing Radio!
The client was looking for a Truck And Tractor Pull Voice...for pigeon racing!
I got it for $100 for a :60 spot
So for all who sent in for the pigeon spot. Yes someone really did get it!
Here it is...or part of it.

| I think you've got a great idea and it's no wonder you got that gig. You rocked but I can't believe the client only paid you 100 bones. Maybe we should also start adding a minimum that clients can pay?

Hey Ron, Congrats on winning that one. I auditioned for that as well but hard-sell ain't my forte'. I never expected to get that one. You're perfect for that spot.
Re: the $100, I've kind of gotten to the point that there are just some jobs here I simply won't audition for. There was one posted recently for about 4 or 5 minutes of script where they wanted to pay $100. No thanks.
I like the idea you're proposing and I think it's been suggested here in other forms before. Let's see if it takes off.
I'd say the most recent one I've gotten here (out of about 3 total 'wins'), was to do a character voice for the Mt. Rushmore tourist 'walk-thru' exhibit. I actually don't have the files anymore, but it was about 20 seconds of audio and I THINK they paid me $100.

Ron:
Great pigeon read! Lofty, even....
I gave it a shot, too, I recall. Was nowhere near as good as that, and quoted $320. I cannot believe you would sell that kind of talent for $100: early Christmas gift, I reckon.
And your idea is great, as well. You'll see that Sid Whatley got something like that started a while ago, in the Auditions Won topic in General ChitChat.
It truly helps to see what our peers are doing to win auditions, though
helps a little less to see the price quotes.
I won a Little Green Lead Icon on Thursday, but have no idea for which project it was. "We want to book you for a narrative. We'll send you the script after the holidays," was the sum total of the good news.
Congrats, Ron...and Happy Season!

Thanks for all the kind words.
Ya know...I kinda feel guilty a little bit.
If you live in California or somewhere like that...$100 will hardly even fill up your car.
In Lubbock, Texas where I live, $100 will get you a weeks worth of groceries and a tank of gas. (I ride a motorcycle)...Yes, I live in the middle of the desert and it's warm most of the time.
I really am not trying to lowball anyone, it's just that a hundred bucks to me is really good. I don't go any lower than that. I figure $100 for a :30 or a :60 is a good starting point. And I go up in 100 dollar increments from there. That is if the client doesn't specify an amount.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Hi all, I think ron's idea is a great support tool for all of us. why not? We're all here to earn and learn...and did i say earn? This is a perfect use for the online capabilities that you cannot get out there in the "real" world. I do not miss walking into cattle calls and never knowing who and what got the job.
Hear, Hear! Count me in.

Hi all!
Sorry, Yeah it's been kinda slow for me too. Must be the Holidays.
But here is one I got on Monday. It was for the American Rifleman TV show on the outdoor channel.
Their regular guy had strepp so I filled in the sponsor's tags. I think this was just a one time thing till their regular guy got better!
I got $100 for it.
Here 'tis

This is a wonderful idea...and Sid Whatley had it on December 11 (General Chit Chat- Auditions Won). Now we've got two similar threads running at different places, plus the somewhat similar Demo of the Day (alos at General Chit Chat).
It's empowering to all of us to see that fellow V123'ers are getting jobs we all auditioned for.
We can learn from each other, compare, and self-analyze.
I'd like to see the forum administrators add a category for this very valuable vein of information.
Howzaboutit?

Its all good but, I gotta say its a little disheartening at how low the pay is for some of these won jobs. I gotta agree with Scott, there are some gigs I don't audition for because of the low pay.
Its too bad they dont just post every audition result. Period. That way we all will know if we have been scamed and someone at voice123 isnt just making these ads up...lololol...no really, sometimes I have actually thought that....lol.

Robert is right. It doesn't matter where you live when you're offering a product in the national marketplace. I don't care if you can buy a house with $100 where you live, it doesn't give anyone the right to take advantage of you and pay less than the market rate.
I advise everyone to take a good look at the V123 rate sheet and use it. If you don't think you're good enough for 100% of the going rate, go ahead and be 10% or 20% off. If you think that the rate being offered by a voice seeker is an insult, just type the corrected rate in the little box.
There are a lot of people around here who are getting this site confused with eBay or Priceline or something. This is not a game of "the person with the lowest price wins."
If you're not getting booked, it's more likely to be because your custom demo sounded like you were talking through a toilet paper tube while sitting inside a metal wastepaper basket. Not that you quoted at or near the top of the range for the project.

Yup...that was a winning read, Ron. Kudoes, man.
And I'm with Victor all the way. If $100 isn't a joke, it sure is a giggle.
The Outdoor Channel has 26 million subscribers (Neilsen Co.). That commercial may have reached one quarter million customers, and generated sales in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
And you gave it pro voice for $100?!
Ron, I know the cost of living is low in Lubbock. But some ad exec somehere is laughing at you.
That shouldn't have gone for a penny less than $500, and more like 650.
Unionized work would have cost some $1500.
I wouldn't do a phone hold message for $100.

Nielsen is talking "households" here and so it's not a subscription in that sense but a potential viewership so it's not actual viewers. 26 M households is so small a number that nielsen dosen't even do actual daypart viewer ratings for that channel. And you know if Larry King is averaging 327.000 (thousand) in prime time every nite and CNN avg. 181,000 during the day, nobody is watching the Outdoor channel. I kid!
Sorry to stray off topic so back to it with...I'd do a short phone for a Benny!! Only because I want to see how low do I have to go to underbid the other guys to get one job. So yes, I would really like to see a section set up on 123 that plays the winning job and shows how much $ it was worth to the client to get what. I believe this knowledge is what seperates us at 123 from the animals out there. We are the future so lets get futuristic people.
