Thanks for clearing this up and sorry if I passed along wrong information. I thought I was being clear to them what I was asking and why. In any case, I don't quite understand how this voice registry is going to support someone, aside from having a place to send people to get your demos. Generally, someone looking for a talent will go into a particular agent's roster and poke around or will have spoken to an agent to get recommendations and then visit the agency roster to hear specific demos. In either case, you won't get heard. It would appear the only way to get something out of this individual registry would be to have somebody enter your name in the voicebank search engine or if you specifically sent someone to Voicebank to hear your demo.
You won't get asked to audition by signing up.

As for getting an agent this way. How would that be possible? More of telling talent what they think the talent wants to hear? And since it's only a relatively small picking ofthe pocket, what's the harm?

Hi Todd!

Maybe you could give yourself a little time? Do your marketing and mailings to all of the agents (and you can see the agents, both union and non union that are listed on voicebank). After a month or two, you'll have a good idea if you should make that investment. I was going to do Voice Registry when I first started and got signed and added to voicebank about a month later. I went with the premium link and that shows up for two of my agents, but one of them only has my first name and therefore, no link to my website. It really is a personal decision to do the premium link. My coach does it and so from the beginning, I planned on that being part of my marketing plan (and budget) as well. Good luck! Very Happy

Laughing My, but you are the adorable curmudgeon. I love reading your posts! I too have a similar view.

Something I didn't mention previously: buying into the VR gives its subscribers access to VB agents' contact info for solicitation; but agents listed can opt out of that cold call solicitation, I believe. However, anybody's contact info is available to anyone who cares to look. That's why those rich widows of Nigerian bankers keep emailing me. Rolling Eyes

So as far as VO talent marketing themselves, I believe the Dread Pirate Roberts said it best: "Good job, Westley. Sleep well. Most likely kill you in the morning."
