One of the interesting facts in that thread is that John Peluso of Peluso Microphones was a consultant/designer/whatever of the V69 (which is a nice mic).

It's very interesting because he uses quite a bit of Chinese parts in his "American" microphones. I've got nothing against Chinese mics nor against Peluso (ADK and SE make good microphones), but Chinese QC can be iffy. Peluso mics are great and not iffy, btw.

It's really hard to find completely American gear anyhow. My Heil is assembled in Illinois with Asian components and my True Systems is mostly American with some Mexican sub-assembly. Shure? Try El Shure.

Ford's best-rated cars are 100% Mexican made...it's a funny old world.

OK guys, I think we need a quick recap...

I have this problem FOREVER. I brought 3 different audio engineers to help me out and the noise is still there. I changed cables, microphones, audio card, and even my computer.

Before I got the mic MXL V69 I had the same issue. However, the V69 is noisier than the previous one.
I'll remove the mixer and check with another mic...

Hello guys!
The noise is still there! I followed each one of the changes you mentioned and is still there. I wounder if the DBX itself is the one creating the noise. What are the chances of this?

Let's take it from there, whaddayousay?
Personally, I'm beginning to run out of suggestions... Sad

Hey guys!
And update about this saga…

I followed David’s suggestion but the noise is still there.
Now, the only thing that I couldn’t do was using a 1/8” plug. My computer doesn’t have this entrance.
The sound card’s entrance is ¼” not a 1/8”. For this reason I plug in the cable without using the 1/8”.

The question here is if there is a ¼” male MONO and the other end a ¼” male STEREO? Should I buy it? Right now I have only MONO signal. Before, I had both (mono and stereo)

I have the answer for David’s question on this:

"Secondly, unplug everything out of the tape-in/tape-out jacks. Why are you using those at all?"

These guys help me listen trough my headphones after I recorded. I use them a lot when I’m editing. If I don’t have these cables connected. I listen the audio just through my speakers –no signal in my headphones-.
However, I have audio –without the cables connected- in my headphones when I’m recording only.

"And from where/to where are they coming/going?"

They go to the back of my computer: In and In2
The other cable go to: back of my computer also: out and out2

I attached 3 audio files so you can listen to. One is before the changes I did and one is after the changes. The last one is using an RE50B with the new settings… What do you think? The sound improved, some, little not at all?
Thanks all for your help on this...

p.s. Should I get another mixer, audio card, mic and a gun (just in case I want to kill my computer...)

Zuleika Very Happy

lance is correct about the quality control (or lack thereof) in chinese mics. i've talked about it here before. you might buy a V69 (for example) and it sounds great -- the next mic off the line may sound like poop. it's a crap shoot. my v69 sounded pretty good out of the box - but when i replaced the cheapo chinese tube with a NOS mullard 12at7 it made all the difference in the world.
