I received a mass email from Michelle Summers in Atlanta, to whom I have unsuccessfully submitted demos for representation in the past, talking about *yet another* pay VO site, a sister site to VoiceCasting called VOPlanet. Same deal roughly as 123 and TOS and others, membership levels etc., but the carrot here is that they are offering the CHANCE to be CONSIDERED for representation with VC once a paying VOPlanet member. Nothing past "we'll listen to your demo and give it consideration". Does this sound at all fishy to anyone? I didn't have to pay my former Cleveland agent anything when I signed with them in 04...

Might I ask any VC members here to PM me with whether they were accepted by VC before or after this and if they had to pay anything for representation? I would of course love to have a shot at being with VC, but don't feel that making a paid registration be a pre-requisite to CONSIDERATION FOR representation sounds quite right - - - tho there are some on these forums who feel that soaking the VO talent is OK and that those who won't simply open their wallets willy nilly are not "serious" VOs.

And is the work level attainable thru VC such that I'll survive just fine without their representation, or should I take the inevitable plunge? *One* more site with leads......

Any info appreciated, Thanks.

No thanks.

Chris:

With the exception of (maybe) a change fee for web site stuff you shouldn't have to pay an agent anything before they get you work... period! Every time I send a demo to an agent I have the "chance to be considered". But they only thing I'm investing is the $$ for the presentation.
