I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who has experienced:
a) Invoice? What invoice ? You never sent me an invoice..or
b) The check's in the mail...or
c) When you hear the tone ,please leave your message and we'll get back to you soon......

I know there's no sure fire way to ensure compensation for our work other than working with a reputable company or establishing long term relationships with certain companies. If there is a way to know we'll always get paid, please let me know.

Does anyone out there have a basic contract/agreement they use with positive results?

I've been chasing someone around for several weeks now with no luck. Emails, phone calls that go to voicemail, even the operator has a voicemail! Lots of ducking and dodging going on. They found me by doing a Google search for my state and voice talent. The person seems nice enough but I can't seem to connect with them. As a last resort, I'll likely end up using legal means and attached fees which is something I'd like to avoid if I can but they're backing me into a corner.

Any suggestions? Confused Ed

This has been talked about many times. Philip Banks said it best....what do you stand to gain if you go the legal route. Enforcing a contract legally is only as good as the amount your willing to spend on legal fees. If the legal fees far out weight the payment for the gig, is it worth it? Hopefully this doesn't happen often, but when it does, you may just have to bite the bullet and learn from it...never work with that client again and try and be more selective on who you work with, although there really is no way to tell for sure.....but continue to pester them for your money in a professional way. You never know...you may eventually get paid...late...but better late than never.

I hear ya Tom I've only encountered this twice-and one client eventually paid up. I'll persevere and see what happens. There's also small claims court too. Thanks Ed
