I read that article a couple of years ago - sounded like BS then - but I didn't have an mp3 player on my phone then either. For my money you can't legislate morality and you can't program "personality".

There are lots of people working on doing just that. They record voices and then turn them into computer voices, breaking them up into little pieces. Some companies use them a lot. _________________ Chuck Douglas

My wife is a very talented, high-end 3D animator who postulated a while back that perhaps someday human actors may become extinct due to advances in 3D animation. I own a copy of the astounding "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within", where they tried to mimic real humans. They did a darned good job, and it's a great movie, but I still have no worries about humans being replaced as actors and voice talent. I think it's VERY safe to say that if it were EVER to happen (and I don't think it will) it won't happen in our lifetimes.

thank you scott, for your reply. i do 3D animation as a hobby and i was thinking the same as well, especially after seeing how they made "davy jones" in pirates 2. but i feel better now that i have read what you have said.

Hey Randall... what software are you doing the 3D in? My wife uses 3D Max. If you'd like to see an example of the type of work she does, try this link and see if it works for you:

It was said years ago that Robots and Machines were going to take our jobs. They did not. They did create different work for the people skilled in the labor they replaced.
So....IMHO, I believe that our jobs won't go away, just will be changing with technology as they are currently.

Loved Final Fantasy, it's one of my favourties too. It takes a lot of work to do even something as simple as this:
Any Star wars Fans here?
